The Altra Running Men’s Lone Peak 4.0 Low RSM has the balance of weight, cushioning, and responsiveness you’d expect from a shoe with this iconic name, but this model is equipped with bolstered protection against rain, snow, and mud (RSM).

The Altra Running Men's Lone Peak 4.0 Low RSM has the balance of weight cushioning and responsiveness you'd expect from a shoe with this iconic name but this model is equipped with bolstered protection against rain snow and mud (RSM).

As with all Altra Running offerings the shoe has a FootShape toe box that differs greatly from the aggressive taper of traditional running shoes. This design lets your big toe to remain in a straight position while allowing your other toes to spread naturally. This broader cut reduces the risk of bunions hammer toes and plantar fasciitis. The shoe also utilizes a Zero Drop platform (height of the heel and the forefront are the same) that encourages a natural stride rather than elevating the heel or manipulating foot position. This is meant to promote better alignment and a more natural posture while on the move which in turn lessens impact.

The quick-drying mesh upper utilizes waterproof eVent fabric to ward off moisture while ensuring breathability to keep your feet dry and comfortable. An integrated GaiterTrap allows for the easy attachment of Altra gaiters (sold separately). A dual-layer EVA midsole delivers comfort and reduces fatigue. Shaped to mirror the skeletal structure of your foot a protective StoneGuard reduces the impact of rocks and roots.

The shoe has a stack height of 25 mm and weighs in at just 1 pound 5.8 ounces per pair. The TrailClaw rubber outsole has a tacky surface and a lug pattern that together deliver excellent traction regardless of terrain.

Sold in pairs and your choice of color options the Altra Running Men's Lone Peak 4.0 Low RSM trail running shoe is available in men's full and half sizes.

Can't say enough

Weight, grip, performance, zero drop, year round (even for Alaska) shoe. These shoes continue to get better and perform top notch for anything I've thrown at it. Mountain, meadow, snow, sand.... it covers it all!

More of a wish than a dislike, but an option of adding the Altra Gaiters could be part of the shoe buying process.

Good Shoe

Wide Good cushioning Waterproof

Sides are thin

Live up to the reputation, except one flaw.

Very comfortable shoes, love the wide toe-box, good grip, overall feel very sturdy and protective. Will probably purchase a new pair once these fall apart.

A portion of fabric at the very top of the shoe, on the inside where the foot enters, eroded very quickly -- within maybe 72 hours of getting them. Altra support was very kind and offered to replace them, but I declined because the shoes are otherwise in great shape. But you should know that this happens. Also, I would've liked a black or black/gray color option.
