A leather version of the iconic Lone Peak, the low-cut Altra Running Women's LP Alpine hiker has the aesthetics and functionality for wear in-town or on the trail. The shoe is moderately-cushioned, equipped with all-surface traction, and combines supportiveness, breathability, and durability.
As with all Altra Running models the shoe has a roomy, ergonomic toe box that differs greatly from the aggressive taper of traditional shoes. This design lets your big toe remain in a straight position while allowing your other toes to spread naturally. This broader cut reduces the risk of bunions hammer toes and plantar fasciitis. The shoe also utilizes a "balanced cushioning" platform (height of the heel and the forefront are the same) that encourages a natural stride rather than elevating the heel or manipulating foot position. This is meant to promote better alignment and a more natural posture while on the move which in turn lessens impact.
The hybrid leather and synthetic upper strikes an excellent balance between breathability and durability and an integrated tongue helps to keep out debris. A soft, padded collar enhances both fit and comfort.
The shoe's highly-responsive Altra EGO midsole delivers comfort, reduces fatigue, and provides resiliency with every step. The shoe has a stack height of 25mm and weighs in at roughly 19.6 ounces per pair. The DuraTread rubber outsole can tackle dirt or rocks but also delivers confident traction on improved surfaces like sidewalks and streets.
Sold in pairs, the Altra Running Women's LP Alpine trail shoe is available in women's full and half sizes.
