Different adventures and changing conditions call for differing set-ups and the versatile Exped Outer Space III is a unique, shape-shifting, 3-person tent that doesn't leave you stuck with a single configuration. Pitch it like a buttoned-down tent, open it up for maximum storage and breathability, or use it like a sun canopy in balmy weather!
The inner tent body offers 34.4 square feet of interior space. Two doors provide convenient entry and exit. Vestibules in front of each door combine to offer 40.9 square feet of exterior storage space. The pole-supported front vestibule is massive and can serve as a front porch for hanging out at the end of the day! The individual panels of the vestibule can be rolled up so you can decide how much protection or privacy you need. The rear vestibule has an awning-style door that helps to maximize breathability and access.
The tent utilizes 7001 aluminum poles to balance weight and durability while providing freestanding structure. Stakes and guyline are included to ensure a taut pitch. For ease of set-up, the 40D ripstop nylon and 15D no-see-um mesh tent body can remain attached to the rainfly and the entire tent attaches directly to the external poles. This design still allows you to unclip the tent body if and when you decide that you'd like to rely solely on the rainfly and open up the entire interior for maximum room. This also lets the Outer Space serve as a protective sun shelter!
The rainfly and floor of the tent are built from highly-durable 68D taffeta polyester with PU coatings and fully taped seams to ensure weather protection. The custom-fit Exped Outer Space III Footprint (sold separately) can be used to offer additional protection against standing water, rocks, and roots.
