Delivering youth-friendly fit and adult-sized performance, the Gregory Wander 50 Youth backpack caters to growing adventurers, offering maximum fit adjustability, load-hauling capability, and over 3000 cubic inches of storage capacity.

The VersaFit Suspension effectively transfers load to the hips using a lightweight Wishbone steel wire frame, with a hipbelt and backpanel that are directly integrated into the frame to maximize load support. The suspension's broad range of torso fit adjustability (13"-18") and Active Wrap adjustable hipbelt accommodate the growth of your young backpacker. Layered, perforated, dual-density foam construction on the backpanel helps to wick moisture to help keep young hikers cool. An adjustable sternum strap and load-lifter straps further enhance the fit of the pack and ensure load stability while allowing convenient on-the-go adjustment.

The pack's main compartment has top loading access and, in addition, a large U-shaped front zipper that enables you to quickly put hands on gear and or clothes without having to dump out the entire contents of your pack. Side and bottom compression straps ensure that the contents of the pack remain safely in place. Other storage options include a stretch mesh stuff pocket on the front of the pack, a floating top pocket which allows for storage under the lid, and large hipbelt pockets. Side stretch mesh pockets are ideal for water bottles.

Other features include reflective webbing, twin ice axe/trekking pole attachment points, gear lash points, and an integrated raincover. An internal sleeve and built-in pass-through make the pack hydration system compatible (hydration system sold separately).

It should serve us well in the years to come

I purchased this pack for my 7 year old. Her torso length is 12.5”. This pack offers many adjustable features that it should serve her well in the years to come. I appreciate that the rain cover comes standard. The hip pockets hold a flashlight and headlamp in one pocket. The side water bottle pockets are innovative with the pass through compression straps.

Dislikes

I wish there were Velcro keepers at the end of straps so the excess can be rolled up on itself and out of the way. This criticism is not on the brand itself; I believe it should be standard in ALL packs. It is my pet peeve that I easily can solve myself if I had a sewing machine.
