Description

Ideal for ounce-counting and space-saving hikers and mountaineers, LEKI Micro Vario Carbon trekking poles offer ultra-lightweight (16.9 oz/per pair) adjustable performance in pack-friendly dimensions.

Incorporating an ergonomic angle that preserves a natural position for your wrists lightweight Aergon Thermo Long grips have an ovoid shape that can be palmed or held traditionally. Rubberized dimpled tops offer textured grip points and ultra-lightweight easy-to-adjust straps reduce stress on your wrists and provide additional security and comfort. The extended length of the grips allows you to grasp lower on the shafts, eliminating the need to shorten the length of the poles every time you encounter a steep slope or side hill traverse.

The carbon shaft sections are connected by a concealed inner cord that runs through all three sections of the poles. After each shaft section is aligned, pull them taut until you hear the "click" that indicates the ELD (External Locking Device) is engaged. This innovative design saves weigt and increases collapsibility while still delivering surprising strength. Unlike many foldable poles on the market, these poles also offer a short range of adjustability. By utilizing the integrated easy-to-use Speed Lock 2 lever, you can adjust the length of the poles from 43.3"-51.2". The poles collapse to a length of 15.7” when not in use.

Carbide flex tips deflect up to 30 degrees without damaging the lower pole sections. This reduces the risk of pole breakage if poles get caught between rocks or tree roots on the trail. LEKI’s Trekking Basket 2.0’s are included and are interchangeable with other baskets (sold separately).

The poles are treated with a matte-clear coat to protect them from scratches while providing an attractive polished finish.

Highly recommended

Likes

Super light Folds small Comfortable grip and strap

Dislikes

Not really a major point- when the tip of the pole gets caught in a rock or root, the locking mechanism of the lower half of the pole "pops"- the first few times this happened, I thought I had broken the pole!

Strong and durable

Ability to adjust length and how well they fold down for minimal space in backpack. Very durable on first use heading up and down Quandary Peak, Colorado.

Dislikes

Prefer cork grips
