Filtration occurs in two stages. A 0.2 micron hollow-fiber microfilter is 99.9999% effective against waterborne bacteria, protozoa, giardia, and cryptosporidium. A Carbon filter protects against chlorine and organic chemical matter while also reducing odor and improving taste. The filter is effective for up to 1,000 gallons. The bottle is dishwasher safe, but the filter does need to be removed before washing.
