The Marmot Tungsten 4P backpacking tent utilizes an architectural design that maximizes livability for 3-season camping or backpacking.

Description

The Marmot Tungsten 4P backpacking tent utilizes an architectural design that maximizes livability for 3-season camping or backpacking.

Easily accessed on either side by dual D-shaped doors the interior of the tent offers 53 square feet of floor space. A front vestibule provides 11 square feet of weather-protected external storage space and a smaller vestibule over the second door offers an additional 7.8 square feet of protection. Interior pockets provide places to store gear to free up floor space and a lamp shade pocket meant to hold a headlamp (not included) can provide ambient interior lighting.

The unique pre-bent "knees" of the tent's HD Velocity 7000 Series aluminum poles pull the tent body taut avoiding the unusable corners frequently found inside tents and maximizing livability. Employing integrated color-coded clips the tent body attaches quickly easily and securely to the poles creating a freestanding design that enables you to set up the tent and then move it around your chosen campsite to find the optimal rock-and-root-free position.

Extensive mesh on the walls and ceiling ensure excellent ventilation and keeps condensation to a minimum. Both the fully weatherproof rain fly and floor are seam sealed and the catenary cut of the floor keeps the edges of the tent away from the ground in wet weather. A compatible custom-fit footprint is included to further protect the floor of the tent from sharp objects mud and ground water.

The Marmot Tungsten 4P backpacking tent is available in your choice of color options.

Exactly what I needed! 9yr old, 5yr old, a 75lb golden retriever and myself slept comfortably in this tent.

Likes

Relatively lightweight for a 4P tent. Best suit for car camping; however, I used it as a larger backpacking tent in order to fit the kids, dog and myself for a weekend. It was short mileage so I didn’t mind it. Really like the green color! Setup was quick and easy. Didn’t have time to set it up prior to our trip so first look was at camp. Everything went together in a breeze.

Quality tent

Likes

This tent looks great and seems very well made. The quality of the fabric and mesh seem durable. Love the fact that it came with a footprint as they can cost about $50 alone when purchased separately. The rainfly was very easy to install and the built-in vents worked great. I never felt too hot because they allowed air to flow through. The bent poles really do give the "sleep zone" extra head and leg room. As someone who is 6ft tall I did't feel crammed and was actually very comfortable.

Dislikes

I had no dislikes about this tent. I only wish Marmot made a taller version of it.

Pretty rugged Easy to set up Roomy

Dislikes

It’s pretty large and heavy for packpacking. But if you split the load up with 2 or 3 hiking buddies it is easily manageable.

Good old Marmot Tent

Likes

Sets up easily and stays put in stronger winds. Great sky viewing without the rain tarp. Both doors zip well when opening and closing. Handles rain with ease.

Dislikes

Maybe the ventilation when the tarp is on and the sun is out, but I haven't found a tent yet that stays cool in those conditions.

Just right for two people camping

Likes

This tent manages to be both spacious and cozy. I bought this to camp with my boyfriend, and we found there was plenty of room for the two of us and all of our stuff. I'm happy to have gone with the 4P over the 3P. It ended up raining the entire weekend we were camping, and I'm happy to say the tent held up really well. We hung a lantern on the hook provided in the top of the tent and spent the weekend playing boardgames. We could have easily fit another person or two in our tent to sit and play games.

Dislikes

No stakes came with the tent for the guy lines. I had to buy extra.

Excited

Likes

We purchased this tent to use instead of our larger tent on quick 1 night camp set ups. It is a great size for the four of us. We use it as a quick set up and dont need all of our gear inside with us. We are really excited to have this in our family!

Dislikes

I dont currently have any dislikes.

Great 4P Marmot Tent

Likes

It’s just the right size for my family of 4 for backpacking and overnight trips. It’s easy to setup and packs back up nice. I like that the foot print comes with it instead of separate. So far it’s a great tent

Pleased with this tent - Recommended

Likes

Set up is very easy, was able to complete the set up in about 10 minutes alone. The included footprint is a nice touch, if for no other reason that keeping sap and other items off the tent floor. The prebend in the poles does provide a much more vertical wall at the floor of the tent, making it much more comfortable for sleeping since your head doesn't get 'wedged' where the walls meet the floors. Doors are nice and wide for easy comings and goings. The rain fly is also very easy to set up with quick clips and small fabric tabs to assist with alignment. The two vestibules are of good size for storing boots and are about of equal volume. Both vestibules also have wide doors that can be buttoned open to allow for ventilation.

Dislikes

I only have a couple of minor negatives: The main tent poles are attached to one another at the top of the tent; therefore, you are not able to attach one pole at a time, so it adds a little complexity to the set up, especially when there is only one person. Also, the mesh fabric on one side of the tent is joined to the floor tub, therefore, it is possible that in heavy rains, there may be some splash back into the tent under the rain fly. Having said that, I have not yet experienced any splash back, but it is something I feel should be noted. Finally, the footprint does not extend under the vestibules, so items placed there will be on the ground; as such, the storage provided may be limited in rainy conditions.
