Description

The MSR Elixir 2 tent maximizes internal space and delivers durable 3-season backpacking performance at a price that won't break your budget. A footprint is even included to add versatility and increase value.

The unique pole configuration of the tent provides 29 square feet of interior space and a full 40 inches of space-increasing interior height. The lightweight 7000-series aluminum poles are strong and durable. Poles, clips, and webbing are all color-coded to take the guess-work out of set-up, and aluminum stakes are included to aid in securing the freestanding pitch. Internal pockets allow you to make the most of available space by allowing you to store clothes and gear up and off of the floor. Two large doors lead to dual vestibules that offering a combined 24 square feet (12 square feet per vestibule) of additional protected storage space. If you're looking for even more external storage, consider purchasing the MSR Gear Shed (sold separately) which connects directly to the tent and provides an additional 26.5 square feet of coverage.

A balance of mesh and solid canopy fabric construction keeps weight to a minimum while providing venting, warmth, and privacy. The mesh panels and integrated fly vents allow for air circulation that combats the build-up of condensation on the interior of the tent. In warm, clear weather, you can tie back the exterior doors to allow even greater airflow.

The tent employs taped seams on the bathtub style floor and on the rainfly. Protective PU coatings on the 68D ripstop polyester fly and 70D taffeta nylon floor prevent leaks and fend off weather. Stress points on the tent body, floor, and fly are reinforced to prevent tear-outs.

The included footprint adds durability by protecting the floor of the tent from mud, ground water, and sharp objects like rocks, exposed roots and pine needles. It also enables you to leave the tent body behind (when conditions allow) and use just the poles, footprint, and fly to pitch the tent as a minimalist freestanding shelter.

  • Large vestibules
  • Two built-in gear lofts and glow zippers
  • Easy access with two large doors
  • Footprint included

Strong tent for bad weather

Likes

Excellent headroom, and setup is fairly straightforward. This tent is well-made, easy to assemble, lightweight, and roomy.

Dislikes

Don’t like the number of air vents as this causes chilly mornings and evenings.

Good tent but only for 3 seasons.

Likes

The manufacturer correctly presents this tent as 3-season. From myself I will add, just for a warm season, without frosts. I neglected it, but used it in the winter - the awning did not last. And for the summer a steep tent, light and spacious in the middle. The net on the inner tent is not much, so it has some protection from the wind. In the old version, the vestibules were not very comfortable, and here I see, made additional stretching, which is very appropriate.

Dislikes

The awning is raised high above the ground - in heavy rain things in the vestibules can get wet. Heavy

Excellent durable tent for the money

Likes

Great tent for the money. Held up up well in 30+ mph winds and rain. Durable. Roomy. Gear loft mesh pockets. Came with plenty of stakes for rainfly and tent

Dislikes

Heavier and bulkier than I prefer, but was expected. Also could use a little more ventilation

Awesome tent for the price

Likes

Super easy to setup, and great that it comes with a footprint. Great value for the price. All around great buy!

Dislikes

It is a cozy fit for two people and is a bit heavier than other tents on the market.

Light & quick assembly

Likes

Includes footprint. 3-season. Waterproof fabric. Not threading poles through sleeves makes the assembly process go much faster. Good ventilation.Fits 2 comfortably with gear. I replaced my MSR Fury 2 with this one, I am happy with it.

Dislikes

No compression bag included. No Groundhog stakes. Could have been 4-season.

Great tent, perfect for 1 person, good for 2 with just enough space for 2 sleeping bags. Brought to iceland with me and it held up under 70mph wind without any bending or flying away. Great design.

3-4 Season Tent

Likes

Easy Setup Inexpensive Comes with Footprint Big Vestibules Durable Great Ventilation Weight is a non-issue since this tent can ALMOST be considered a 4 season tent in my opinion.

Dislikes

Stakes are Standard Hooks. (Replace with Groundhogs) Stuff Sack is a little too Big. (Replace with MSR Tent Compression Bag)

Great 3 Season Tent

Likes

Amazing tent, good size, very easy to set-up, lightweight, comfortable at an affordable price. The zippers are very good quality, plenty of room inside and with the vestibules. Color coded for easy pitch (this is important after hard and long day trek)!
