Description

Envisioned and built as a durable, value-packed backcountry workhorse, the Osprey Kestrel 58 backpack offers load-hauling capability, ample storage (3400+ cubic inches), an adjustable fit, and an integrated raincover at a great price.

The pack uses a lightweight 3.5mm LightWire peripheral frame and a foam framesheet to provide optimal weight distribution and a balanced, flexible carry. A mesh-covered backpanel cushions the load against your back while allowing excess heat to escape so you stay dry and comfortable. An adjustable, padded hipbelt rounds out the suspension features and aids greatly in weight stabilization. Load lifter straps and an adjustable sternum strap with a handy built-in emergency whistle allow you to dial in fit. The adaptable suspension system allows for torso adjustability.

Accommodating backpackers of different heights and torso lengths, the pack is available in your choice of sizes. The Small/Medium size best fits torsos ranging from 16"-20" and the Medium/Large fits from 19"-23".

The storage capacity of the Small/Medium pack is 3417 cubic inches and the Medium/Large has a 3539 cubic inch capacity. The pack's large main compartment is reached through a traditional top-loading access point, but a large U-shaped zipper also lets you access the packbag from the front. Additionally, a lower compartment serves as a dedicated spot for stowing your sleeping bag or other clothes and gear. A removable divider enables you to open up the interior to create a single spacious compartment. A front panel shove-it pocket, stretch mesh side pockets, and dual lid pockets provide other storage options.

Other features include Stow-on-the-Go trekking pole attachments, tuck-away ice tool attachments, side compression straps, removable sleeping pad straps, front panel daisy chain attachment points, and zippered hipbelt pockets. An included rain cover protects the pack in inclement weather. A lined exterior compartment makes the pack hydration compatible (hydration system sold separately) and allows you to remove or refill your reservoir without having to access the interior of the pack.

The Osprey Kestrel 58 internal frame backpack is available in your choice of colors and sizes.

My favorite!

Likes

One of my favorite Osprey backpacks! It is ideal for those who want to buy a backpack that is suitable not only for hiking, but also for hitchhiking or just traveling. Very comfortable to use even during your long trips to the mountains.

Dislikes

The only thing that I don't like is that it's not possible to remove or unfasten the top lid.

Beautiful Pack

Likes

It's an Osprey (with an Allmighty Guarantee), opens like a duffel bag, made of touch material, lots of opportunities to lash things to it (like the daylite backpack), the dark black color looks amazing, quite versatile, easy access to exterior hydration reservoir, very durable shove-it pocket on the front, and overall sleek design.

Dislikes

It's difficult to zip the sleeping compartment closed when fully loaded, the shoulder harness feels a bit uncomfortable for me as it seems to press against my C7, and (when fully loaded) the pack fits so snug against my back that there isn't much ventilation.
