A technical backcountry ski pack designed to fit a women's frame, the Osprey Sopris 40 Women's has a stable fit, durable and lightweight construction, and the features necessary for extended or gear-intensive cold-weather adventures.
Structural support is provided by a LightWire peripheral aluminum frame, a 1.5mm HDPE stay, and an HDPE framesheet. A smooth-surface Thermoformed contoured backpanel sheds snow and keeps ice from building up. Contoured, padded shoulder straps and a padded hipbelt enhance fit and aid in load balance. A women's specific design ensures optimal fit and performance. Load-lifter straps and an adjustable sternum strap allow you to make fine-tuned fit adjustments. The buckle of the sternum strap also doubles as a safety whistle. The hipbelt has a gear loop and one zippered pocket to keep essentials close at hand.
Unlike traditional backpacks, the main packbag can be accessed through a zippered entry on the backpanel. This design helps to keep contents dry and protected and also enables you to place the pack face down when accessing contents so that the backpanel remains completely dry. Additionally, the pack has traditional top-load access under the removable lid. A top compression strap is adjustable and can be used for a stable and easily accessible rope carry. The FlapJacket top cover can be deployed when the lid is not in use to protect the pack's contents. At the front of the pack, there is a large compartment with a J-shaped zipper. This allows for easy access to an avalanche safety kit pocket with sleeves for a shovel handle and probes.
Other features include integrated A-frame and diagonal ski carry systems, vertical and horizontal snowboard carry systems, a stowable helmet carry system (helmet not included), an ice tool carry sleeve and attachment point, sled attachment loops and a scratch-free goggle pocket. Attachment points on the harness are ideal for lashing a GPS or radio. The internal main compartment has side panel sleeves for a thermos or other small items.
