Built from a minimalist design that anticipates hybrid explorations of running, scrambling, and fast-and-light hiking, the Ultimate Direction Mountain Vest 5.0 incorporates the hydration and storage features you truly need while skipping anything extraneous.
Constructed of lightweight Sil/nylon and breathable stretch mesh, the vest weighs just 8.1 ounces (without bottles). To ensure a proper fit, the vest is available in four sizes that are based on your chest measurement. The Small best fits 23"-32" chest sizes, the Medium best fits 30"-39" chest sizes, the Large best fits 37"-46" chest sizes, and the Xlarge best fits 44"-52" chests. Dual sternum straps with sliding adjustability help to fine-tune fit and an integrated Comfort Cinch 2.0 system provides on-the-go fit adjustability across the small of your back without applying undue pressure to your lats.
The main rear compartment offers 818 cubic inches of storage for a lightweight shell or other gear. It can also carry up to a 3L reservoir (hydration system sold separately). A bungee system enables you to lash gear externally. A rear attachment system allows you to carry foldable poles in a horizontal fashion that reduces "bounce" and keeps poles at the ready but out of your way.
On the chest portion of the harness there are twin water bottle pockets which conveniently secure soft-sided or hard-sided water bottles. Ultimate Direction includes two soft-sided Body Bottles, each with a 500 ml capacity. Other features include an additional zippered front pocket, a phone-compatible harness pocket, and zippered lateral side pockets. If you prefer to carry poles up front, there are also attachment points that allow you to lash them directly to the harness.
