The Fjallraven Men's SkogsO Padded Jacket combines lightweight weather-resistant warmth with a highly protective exterior. These qualities equip the hip-length jacket for the backcountry but its sophisticated style is equally at home on city streets.
Description
- Rugged construction with adaptable weather-protection: The jacket's durable G-1000 fabric is a blend of sustainable polyester and organic cotton that is highly water-resistant and can be made almost completely waterproof with the use of Greenland Wax (sold separately).
- Synthetic insulation and timeless style combine to tackle technical or urban winter adventures : The body of the jacket is insulated with recycled synthetic G-Loft Supreme fill that retains heat even in damp or wet conditions. A soft polyamide lining ensures internal comfort. The full-length two-way front zipper has a protective flap to keep out wind and an adjustable, insulated hood extends protective coverage and bolsters warmth. An understated, utilitarian aesthetic perfectly suits the jacket wherever you wear it.
- Pockets, pockets, and more pockets: An array of pockets including dual chest pockets, zippered front pockets, and interior pockets combine to provide a place to hide your hands from the cold, safely stow your phone, and carry other winter essentials.
Why apply Greenland Wax?
G-1000 is a tough material with a tight weave that provides natural wind-resistance, but by adding Greenland Wax, which is made of a mixture of beeswax and paraffin, you can greatly increase the wind- and water-resistance as well as durability. Waxing is actually surprisingly easy. Simply use the block of Greenland Wax (sold separately) and apply in long, smooth strokes which leave behind a thin, even layer. Using an iron (or a hairdryer) on low to moderate heat, melt the wax into the fabric again using long, even strokes. The wax melts at between 131-140 degrees Fahrenheit (55-60 degrees Celsius) and anything beyond those temperatures will cause the wax to get too runny. Repeat if and as you feel necessary for greater protection.
