A lightweight nimble and moderately cushioned option for backpacking and hiking the Altra Running Men's Lone Peak 4.0 Mid Mesh trail shoe combines the responsiveness and breathability of a running shoe with the higher-cut support and stability of a mid-height boot.
As with all Altra offerings the shoe has a FootShape toe box that differs greatly from the aggressive taper of traditional running shoes. This design lets your big toe remain in a straight position while allowing your other toes to spread naturally. This broader cut reduces the risk of bunions hammer toes and plantar fasciitis. The shoe also utilizes a Zero Drop platform (height of the heel and the forefront are the same) that encourages a natural stride rather than elevating the heel or manipulating foot position. This is meant to promote better alignment and a more natural posture while on the move which in turn lessens impact.
The shoe's reinforced extended-length upper is made of an abrasion-resistant minimally-seamed mesh and has strategic overlays to aid in lateral stabilization and improve support and stability. An integrated tongue helps to keep out debris and a built-in GaiterTrap allows for the easy attachment of Altra gaiters (sold separately). A dual-layer EVA midsole delivers comfort and reduces fatigue. Shaped to mirror the skeletal structure of your foot a protective StoneGuard reduces the impact of rocks and roots.
The shoe has a stack height of 25 mm and weighs roughly 1 pound 8.6 ounces per pair. A durable TrailClaw rubber outsole has a tacky surface and a lug pattern that together deliver excellent traction on varied terrain.
Sold in pairs the Altra Running Men's Lone Peak 4.0 Mid Mesh hiking shoe is available in men's full and half sizes.
