I have had foot surgery to remove bone growth in 5e joints of my large toes. These boots help to keep the joints from bending too much. The firm sole is outstanding. I have purchased three pairs. The first and second have been all over he backcountry in the wettest of places. My feet NEVVVEEERRRR get wet. They look like they cost a fortune. Many questions from others about them. I buy them also because they are one of the few available boots offered in wide size. I buy one size larger and in wide and use a planter faciatis insert that makes the boots even more comfortable. MY FEET NEVER GET WET!!! Even in creeks and the worst mud!!!

So far, they've performed really well on 4 winter day-hikes, and lots of walking around NYC. It's true that they are a little slippery on wet surfaces at first, but that improves as you wear them (maybe a coating comes off). By the second hike and 5th day of wearing them (after 1 hike and 3 days at work) I had no problem scrambling over wet rocks on a decently steep, snowy, and kinda icy trail. One of the first things I noticed as they started to break in, which doesn't take long by the way, is that my stride felt really nice in these. They are stiff, heavy, and supportive, but don't slow me down or feel cumbersome. The water resistance is solid. I dunked them into a stream up to the bottom of my ankles multiple times on my last trip out and no water leaked in. I like the look a lot. My friend told me they looked like the kind of boots a Gundam pilot would wear, and that's 100% a complement in my book.

They run a little narrow in the toe box. They are very warm. They probably won't be my first choice for summer treks, but I have loved using them in colder weather.

This is my first pair of Asolo Boots. When I first ordered them I was concerned that the would be to narrow for my foot, because I read many reviews stating that the tend to run narrow in width. It turns out that my foot is not as wide as I first thought. I ordered the 9D size and they fit perfectly, even with midweight wool hiking socks. This is the first pair of hiking boots I have owned that I can honestly say are designed for human feet and not someone's abstract concept of how footwear should fit and function. The feel natural when walking and trail hiking, they are supportive where they need to be, provide great traction in many conditions and appear to rugged enough for extended treks. I should also mention, they are true to foot size, so You should take in consideration the weight of the socks You will be wearing in various weather conditions. These are Fantastic Hiking Boots, I will be purchasing more Asolo boots in the future. Also, it's hard to beat Backcountry Edge's prices and customer service.
