An all-season take on an Asolo classic, the Men's 520 GV Winter offers max support and protection for challenging terrain and conditions. A leather upper, an insulated and waterproof lining, and a high-traction outsole make the boot winter-ready.

Description

  • Premium protection against conditions and the elements: The full-grain leather upper is water-resistant, ruggedly durable, and highly supportive and stabilizing. An insulated GORE-TEX lining adds confident waterproof protection and low-profile warmth while still allowing your feet to breathe and preventing moisture buildup. NOTE: The sturdy leather construction does require a gradual break-in period.
  • Supportive underfoot structure: The boot has an integrated lasting board that supports your foot under the all-day strain of a heavy pack and dual density EVA helps to cushion each step and reduce fatiguing shock.
  • Enhanced wintry weather traction: The boot's high-performance Vibram outsole has a large area of contact and a self-cleaning design that make it effective on snow or ice as well as on trail. The Arctic Grip rubber compound that makes up the outsole features unparalleled grip on cold, icy, wet and snowy terrain.

As a proud owner original TPS 520, Asolo has demonstrated that you can indeed reinvent the wheel with the 520 GV Winter style. This winterized version brings an Arctic Grip outsole that remains steadfast in all but the very iciest of conditions, and paired with the signature ankle support, gets me safely through with whatever wintry challenges I might face. What impressed me about this boot was how Asolo managed to add insulation without adding any extra bulk and still kept the weight the same. I also noticed that this EVA midsole is better suited for handling colder temperatures and is less likely to stiffen up when the mercury plummets. If you are a fan of the original, than this boot will check all the right boxes if you’re looking to extend the hiking calendar into winter.
