A good balance of weight and live-ability

Bought this on offer from backcountry edge for a 6 week summer trip to New Zealand southern alps. 3 to 6 day hikes then a couple of days in a b&b etc Mixture of beach forest and high alpine. In true NZ style I had 30’c + days, high winds and heavy rain even sharp frosts and snow. The tent held up well in all conditions which is more than can be said for my old 1 season sleeping bag Main plus points: 1) the tent with footprint is easy to pitch, the footprint makes it pretty easy to pitch the fly first so in heavy rain the inner doesn’t get wet. Without the foot print it would be pretty difficult to pitch fly first 2) the tent is properly free standing and very stable even when hit from the side.I had some pretty horrendous weather and didn’t get wet once, had some gusty and swirling winds I would estimate gusting up to 30 to 40mph. The tent took it all although the vestibule part of the fly did touch the pack a couple of times.make sure the tent is guyed though and I don’t think it would take a full onslaught though, but it’s not designed for all season use. 3}the inner is well designed and has plenty of room to sit up (I’m 6ft 1”)there is also room store clothes boots etc in the footwell with a large Thermarest. Storage pockets inside are adequate but not not plentiful. Side entry is great much easier than front entry tents. The mesh kept the sand fly’s at Bay very well. 4) on hot and humid nights of which i had a few, the tent appears pretty well ventilated there was noticeable air movement and very little in the way of condensation in the mornings All in all the tent was a lot more comfortable than I was expecting, even after 3 straight days and nights of wind / rain I didn’t get that ‘what the bloody hell am I doing here feeling’ like I have done with bivi or previous UL shelters / tents. Highly recommended but it does need the overpriced footprint even when using the inner.
Dislikes
Only a couple minor quibbles: 1) the vestibule is a little small to store a larger pack (Osprey 65L), during wind it is nigh on impossible to keep the fly from touching it so I kept the pack cover on. It is also really tight for cooking with the pack in there when the weather is truly horrible 2) when the rain fly is wet the baffle protecting the zip constantly gets caught in the zipper which is annoying

Roomy but must be staked down

Roomy inside. Performs well in rain. Easy to setup
Dislikes
Nice to have cords on the fly on all three sides. One side just has a loop.

Awesome space saving and light

Can't believe how light this tent is and how small it can be compressed down to.
Dislikes
Wish it was the same width throughout the entire tent (tapers towards the feet).

Packs away small, easy setup, fun awaits.

Fits inside my bicycle pannier. Very easy setup, even for novice like me. Seems durable and well-thought out. No regrets so far.
Dislikes
The fly is really tight on top, almost worries me. High price keeps you on the fence longer.

Light, Roomy, but Delicate (or so it seems)

It's super light. Unbelievably light. And for a 1 person tent there is a lot of room inside. Head room and leg room. You have no problem finding a place to put your gear (or your dog, in my case). I listed a few of my dislikes below. But this tent held up well on the Northern Yosemite borders for a 8 day trip. Temperatures dipped to 9 degrees and the wind blew hard. Make sure you open the ventilation on the top. I forgot one night and the condensation floated up to the fly and ended up covering it with frost.

There are a couple weird things about this tent. (well one kinda). The fly vestibule doesn't stake out tightly. This means there is a lot of movement in the wind. The back side of the fly (opposite the vestibule) has a weird stake out loop -- it doesn't hit the ground. So you'll need to buy some extra cord. The zippers can be problematic. They are very fine like a sleeping bag's so they snag easily. The one thing that concerns me is that every single piece and fabric of the tent looks so delicate (and cheap a bit in some places). So there is a worry you are going to rip something. A good example is fitting the fly over the ridge pole. You need to pull, pull hard to get it fitted. It hasn't broken yet but each time I cross my fingers.
