Description

Ideal for solo backpackers or thru-hikers, the feature-rich Big Agnes Copper Spur HV UL 1 backpacking tent boasts an impressive interior space-to-weight ratio that has made it a favorite among adventurers looking for a balance of weight, livability, and comfort in a freestanding structure.

Stretching a full 88" in length, the interior of the tent is 38" wide at the head and tapers to a width of 28" at the feet, offering 20 square feet of internal space. An integrated vestibule provides 9 square feet of additional weather-protected external storage space.

Interior mesh pockets and a three-dimensional storage bin at the feet provide places to stash gear and clothes while a media pockets enables headphone/ear bud cord routing from phones or other devices. Integrated gear loft loops offer a connection point for the Big Agnes Triangle Gear Loft (sold separately).

The tent’s DAC Featherlite NFL and NSL aluminum poles are both lightweight and durable. The single hub/pole design works in conjunction with the tent body's integrated clips to make setting up the tent fast, easy, and intuitive. An additional short section of pole runs across the roof of the tent and connects easily via an innovative attachment that pulls the tent body taut, increasing the verticality of the interior walls and helping to maximize the spaciousness of the vestibules. An eco-friendly anodizing process is used by DAC to treat the poles without the toxic chemicals traditionally used on aluminum tent poles. Reflecting an overall commitment to maintaining as light a packed weight as possible, superlight aluminum J stakes are included to further secure the freestanding tent.

Ample mesh on the tent body and large D-shaped doors encourages cross ventilation and provides circulation to fight condensation build-up. Coated with 1200mm waterproof polyurethane, the ripstop nylon floor and rainfly are lightweight and durable. All of the tent's seams are seal-taped with waterproof, solvent-free polyurethane tape (no PVC or VOCs) to further protect the tent from the elements.

The custom-fit Big Agnes Copper Spur HV UL 1 Footprint (sold separately) can be used to add additional protection beneath the tent from mud, ground water, or sharp objects. If you really want to travel light, you can leave the tent body at home and use just the rainfly, poles, and the footprint to create a tarp-style set-up that weighs just 1 pound, 10 ounces!

The Big Agnes Copper Spur HV UL 1 backpacking tent is available in your choice of color options.

Best Tent For Me

Likes

I already have a Big Agnes Copper Spur HV1made in 2016 and although it's in great shape, things start to wear out after so many years. So I bought this new Copper Spur HV 1 for a couple of reasons. 1- I know how well my old Copper Spur was made and so I know Big Agnes produces a great product. 2- If and when my old Copper Spur fails, I have a perfect replacement. 3- When friends comes to visit I have a spare tent to backpack with. 4- After much research, I always come back to the new Copper Spur as my tent of choice. Thank you Enwild for great customer service and great prices.

Dislikes

No dislikes except I think the awning thing using two hiking poles is a little bit of a gimmick and something I won't be using. I only hike using one pole. Big Agnes maybe should drop the awning and instead make the tent with two doors.

Great backpacking tent

Likes

Lightweight, roomy, lots of pockets, easy to set up and break down. I especially like the two Y's on both ends to support the tent. The Tiger wall model only has one Y so the foot end of the tent bunches up unless you stake it down. I took it out on a two week road trip and was very happy with this tent.

Dislikes

Nothing on the quality side, the price though can go a bit more user friendly.

My favorite one person tent

Likes

It is a very well-made, lightweight, and easy setup tent. Great gear lofts (2 of them!), comfy entry/exit, and the ability to sit up made me the envy of my friends) There was absolutely no condensation build-up.

Very nice 1 person tent

Likes

Good materials, plenty of room inside, lots of pockets. Can setup fly first with optional footprint.

Dislikes

I wish the rain fly was silpoly instead of silnylon so it would sag less in the rain.

Great Lightweight Tent

Likes

Big Agnes has always been my go-to for lightweight tents. Looking forward to using this one more. If you are on the small side, the 1-person is just barely able to fit a backpacking pack at the head of the tent when you sleep at night. It'll be crowded though. Other than that, the overhead mesh pockets are really nice for organization. They're quite spacious.

Dislikes

The redesigned buckles seem flimsier than the old ones. Haven't had any problems yet. Just an observation.

Excellent backpacking tent

Likes

You just can't get much better than this for a single backpacking tent. It is very lightweight, packs down easily, and sets up and breaks down quickly. I just got back from a week of backpacking in Glacier National Park and was thoroughly pleased with this tent. I also love all of the gear lofts and pockets.

Dislikes

I would not change a thing.

Excellent tent

Likes

100% lightweight, freestanding, waterproof, very stable, plenty of space tent. The tent material is super thin and lightweight but seems durable. Very easy to set up and takedown.

Dislikes

it's not very warm

Solid one person tent

Likes

I am 6'3" and fit in it just fine. I have room enough for a back pack next to my head and some random stuff at my feet. I can sit up inside without brushing my head on the fabric above. You can put it up in no time and if you don't feel like staking it you really don't have to (but it definitely helps to feel a little bigger). Great to have a 360 view without the fly on. A simple and ultralight tent for one person.

Dislikes

If I have to give a dislike it would only be the stakes. I prefer something a little more friendly to someone who doesn't travel with the weight of a hammer. A few more grams is worth not wrecking your hands.

One of the best 3 season tent

Likes

Lightweight, wonderfully functional, larger vestibule area, comfortable and ease of setting up tent for solo hiking. I like that Copper Spur is freestanding ten and you can move it around if you don't like your first location for camp. Big Agnes has amazing customer service on top of it all!!!

Dislikes

Big Agnes Fan for life.

Likes

Light weight. Super easy setup. Long enough to put pack at head area. Gear lofts. Well ventilated. Packs small. Multiple setup options.

Dislikes

Rain fly Zippers snag easy but that is a issue with most thin fabric tents.
