Description

Utilizing a unique "quilted" design, the compact and ultra-lightweight Big Agnes Insulated Q-Core SLX inflatable sleeping pad combines warmth and comfort for 3-season backpacking. An internal layer of synthetic insulation bolsters the pad’s thermal efficiency.

The pad’s nylon ripstop top and bottom have internal polyurethane coatings for waterproof protection. The alternating I-beam construction provides a smooth, comfortable feel and a full 3.5" of thickness. Larger outer baffles serve as rails to help keep you comfortably centered on the pad throughout the night. TPU lamination ensures durability and integrated PrimaLoft Silver insulation and a thin layer of reflective Mylar prevent heat loss and bolster warmth, achieving a 3.2 R-value.

The pad does need to be blown up, but a high-volume valve makes both inflation and deflation easy and allows for fine-tuning of firmness. An included inflation sack (color will vary) enables you to inflate the pad without having to do so by mouth. This saves you energy but also helps to extend the life of the pad by keeping moisture from reaching the pad’s interior.

The Big Agnes Insulated Q-Core SLX sleeping pad is available in a wide array of size options. A stuff sack and a repair kit are included with each pad. NOTE: Always store the pad unrolled with the valve open.

I always get a great night’s sleep on the trail with the Q-Core SLX. It can hard to find a sleeping pad that suites side sleepers, but these quilted baffles conform to your body, so it’s both supportive yet cushioned. I never wake up with sore hips or shoulders because I let just enough air out that I can sink into it a bit, without ever touching the ground. This mat is as comfortable as my 6-inch thick car camping pad, but at a size weight suitable for backpacking.

This thing is comfortable. I own some other thinner self inflating pads and they are not comfortable. This thing is great once you adjust the pressure.

Dislikes

The pump sack is nice but it did take forever to get this thing aired up. I ended up using a pump to get it most of the way aired up and then finished it off with the pump sack.

- Very comfortable pad - Lightweight for its thickness - Easy to inflate

- If you are 6ft or taller, you will probably need to get the long size to prevent your feet hanging off the pad - Where the inflate/deflate valve is located on the pad, it makes getting all the air out of the pad more time consuming

The wide/regular is perfect for larger framed guys like myself, or if you are a side sleeper who likes to ride the edge of the bed. Works fine with my BA system sleeping bags. Really seems to do a great job of insulating. I love being able to adjust (deflate) the mattress to my desired softness and still keep my hips, shoulders, and knees from digging into the ground.......or from finding that ONE rock or root that I missed when looking for a spot to set my tent. Two thumbs up!!!

Compared to my other air mattresses, this one is a little on the heavier side at 22oz.....it's a few more ounces heavier than the comparable Nemo Tensor pad. It's worth it to me for a good night's sleep since I am a side sleeper and middle aged:-)

The pump sack it comes with is sub par and a bit heavy. The size and weight is certainly not UL, but if you can’t sleep on a thin skim pad, this is the one for you.
