The unique, freestanding Big Agnes Salt Creek SL 2 tent maximizes internal space and employs three doors to offer multiple configuration options while still weighing in at less than 4 pounds. It may not be the first choice of the finickiest ounce counter, but it’s a fantastic option for anyone looking for lightweight livability and versatility.
Measuring 86” by 52” at its widest point and tapering to 42” at the feet, the tent offers 28 square feet of interior space. There are doors on either side of the tent, each with a protective 10 square foot vestibule. A third door, located on the front of the tent, lets you get in and out of the tent without disturbing gear stored in the vestibules. It can also be pitched as an awning to maximize airflow and ventilation. Numerous pockets and a three-dimensional storage big help to enhance livability by keeping clothes and gear off the floor and out of the way. Integrated loops also allow for the use of a gear loft (sold separately).
A DAC pressfit aluminum pole system provides lightweight structure and makes it a snap to put up and take down the tent. The hubbed system adds verticality to the tent’s walls so that space is maximized. The ripstop polyester floor and fly have a 1500mm waterproof polyurethane coating to ensure weather protection. All of the tent’s seams are sealed with waterproof, solvent-free polyurethane tape (no PVC or VOCs) to further protect against the elements.
The custom-fit Big Agnes Salt Creek SL 2 Footprint (sold separately) can be used to add additional protection beneath the tent from mud, ground water, or sharp objects. If you really want to travel light, you can leave the tent body at home and use just the rainfly, poles, and the footprint to create a tarp-style set-up that weighs less than 3 pounds.
