Description

Constantly striving to enhance versatility and performance, Gregory has equipped the Compass 40 pack with a crossover bag build that has duffle functionality and backpack carry capability. The pack employs a padded backpanel to grant comfort when worn backpack-style. An adjustable sternum strap allows you to fine-tune fit with on-the-go adjustments. The Compass 40 is available in one overhead compartment-friendly size (2440 cubic inches) and weighs just 2 pounds, 2 ounces on its own.

The main packbag of the Compass 40 has a wide-opening front panel zipper to grant large luggage-style access. An external padded compartment at the back provides easy access to a laptop, while a top pocket includes a zippered mesh security compartment with a key clip. The Compass 40’s padded front panel adds stability and durability and side compression allows you to secure contents with a cinch. A secondary compartment with an expanding divider panel is ideal for dirty clothes, shoes, or other gear.

Constructed of durable 420D nylon and 840D ballistic polyester fabrics, the Gregory Compass 40 convertible travel pack/carry-on is available in your choice of color options.

Compact, thoughtfully designed. Good for short distances.

Likes

Comprehensively designed. Solid quality. Good features. Good for wearing as a backpack for brief amounts of time for short distances: eg a car to in-and-around a brief stay in an airport, to plane, to-in-and-around airport, to car, car to hotel, hotel to car.

Dislikes

Backpack straps are insufficiently padded for longer term carrying. No hip belt. Doesn't reliably stay upright when set on its end. If you plan to wear this as a backpack for a more than 10 minutes at a time, this might not be the best choice. Wearing this as a backpack for longer periods of time: eg riding a commuter train to a subway, a subway to a train to the airport, riding an airport's train, then the minimally-padded backpack straps will get uncomfortable.
