Best daypack for long day trips!
Likes
I did research on daypacks between 20-30L for about a month before I decided to purchase the Exped Skyline 25. This bag has everything I needed in a daypack: 1. Large enough for my essentials on a long day trip (6-12 hours) 2. Large functional pockets that are easily accessible without having to undo compression straps 3. Ergonomic design for comfort (suspension system, comfortable waist strap,, back venting option, and fits my torso length of 18") 4. Hydration pocket 5. Rain cover I've used this bag a number of times already and love how functional it is from the large waist strap pockets that are easily openable with one hand to the easily accessing items from the top and bottom of the main compartment without having to pull everything out. My runners up were the Osprey Talon 22, Osprey Escapist 25, Osprey Stratos 24, and Osprey Manta AG 28 but I'm very glad with my decision to purchase the Skyline other these options as it almost combines the best features out of all the Osprey bags minus the torso length adjustment.
Dislikes
When the bag is fully packed and the compression straps tightened, the bag takes on a shape that looks similar to a giant peanut or pear. However, this is purely cosmetic and does not take awake from the functionality of the bag.

The Perfect Bag!

Everything! Honestly, everything. I spent a long time researching and looking at different bags, but it seemed to me that I would have to make compromises with any bag I chose. That was until I happened upon this bag. From large, spacious hip pockets to a well ventilated back panel, this is well and truly the perfect bag. A problem with many curved (or trampoline) back paneled bags is that in order to get the stuff at the bottom, one would have to take everything out. Not only this, but the curve in the backpack takes away from a lot of potential room. Exped fixes both of these common problems by implementing the switchback for more room and ventilation when needed, as well as a front facing opening, so items at the bottom are always accessible. Being able to access the bag while it's lying flat is quite the convenience. The large U shaped top opening is also incredibly convenient, as I find most bags top opening is much too small and things easily fall out. The inside of the backpack is a nice light color (making it easy to see things inside the bag), and the interior mesh pockets are spacious and perfect for storing gear to keep it from moving around. Finally, the outer "water bottle" pouches are massive and have a compression strap, just the way they should be. These pockets are perfect for stashing gear on the outside of the bag and easily gives the potential for multi-day hikes (something that no other bags this size would offer). Plus the included rain gear stretches and tightens, meaning protecting the gear from the rain is no problem. Exped has really put a lot of thought into this incredibly comfortable and smartly designed bag.

I didn't have to make any compromises in choosing this bag, however I did find that the hole for the hydro pouch was a bit on the small side, making it difficult to get the mouthpiece through. Luckily I have an osprey water pouch with the hose being removable.

When the front compartments are loaded, it makes the pack a bit "front heavy", so it can't sit up when placed standing on the ground.

Great Day Pack or Traveller

The top and side access allows you to get to everything and the inside mesh pockets on both access flaps are incredibly convenient. The hip-belt pockets are also really large and truly functional, adding even more room to a generous sized daypack. It also keeps a low/clean profile. Add to all this the fact that it sits well and is a very comfortable carry and you really have a really fantastic pack. Ive used it both for day hiking with my camera gear as well as taking it on a quick weekend trip as my carry on luggage. It suited both functions really well. Nothing but positives here!
