A versatile pack that can tackle technical day hiking or lightweight overnight trips, the Exped Traverse 40 offers over 2300 cubic inches of storage capacity, has a wealth of organizational features, and employs a unique suspension system that lets you make adjustments to maximize ventilation or pull the pack in for a closer fit.
Backpacks with suspended back systems offer excellent ventilation but often offer less stability than the “full contact” backpanels often used on packs. The Traverse 40 features Exped’s Switchback suspension, a hybrid design that allows the suspension to stand away from your body when ventilation is preferred or sit closer to the body for better load control. In either “mode”, an HDPE framesheet and lightweight steel stays help to maintain load stability. A fully padded hipbelt and contoured shoulder straps provide further adjustability to dial in fit.
The main compartment can be accessed through a top-loading entry but can also be conveniently reached through a front zippered entry. The top lid has dual zippered pockets and internal pockets, dual side external pockets, and sizable hipbelt pockets provide additional storage options. Other features include integrated trekking pole attachments and a stowable rain cover. A lined internal pocket and a drinking tube pass-through make the pack hydration compatible (hydration system not included).
The Exped Traverse 40 backpack is available in your choice of color options.
