The molded Fimbulvetr Hikr-X snowshoe utilizes a "single body" frame design that delivers fantastic traction and durability regardless of temperature or snow conditions. A unique binding ensures a comfortable fit and dynamic performance.
The ergonomic, asymmetrical frame of the snowshoe and its rockered design helps to promote a natural stride. It measures a relatively compact 24" x 10" but it's perforated, traction-delivering design offers the on-snow flotation of a larger snowshoe. In being a single molded frame without the need for any separate decking material, the snowshoe is extremely rugged and without the same proneness to wear-and-tear of traditional snowshoes.
While the overall design of the frame provides traction, a stainless steel heel crampon and toe crampon increase "bite" on snow and ice. Fimbulvetr's All Direction Hinge offers flexibility and responsiveness which further enhances overall traction.
Above the crampons and hinge, the Hugin binding keeps your foot properly positioned for optimal performance. The simple lacing system offers a broad range of adjustability to accommodate footwear ranging from sneakers to boots (NOTE: Color of lacing may vary). It confidently secures your foot without applying undue pressure that could otherwise lead to hot spots and irritation. A rear heel strap further locks your foot in place. A heel lift is built into the top of the deck and can decrease the distance your foot needs to travel with each step on steep terrain. This feature greatly decreases fatigue over the course of big climbs and long days in the snow.
Sold in pairs, the Fimbulvetr Hikr-X snowshoe weighs roughly 2.35 pounds per snowshoe. It has a recommended load range of up to 243 pounds.
