Tough as nails and highly weather-resistant, the Fjallraven Men's Bergtagen G-1000 Jacket is ready made for backcountry ski touring or demanding winter explorations. Strategic patterning provides excellent range of motion, and the adaptable fabric can be waxed for increased weather protection.

Description

Rugged exterior fabric with adaptable weather-protection: The jacket's G-1000 and G-1000 Lite fabrics are a blend of recycled polyester and organic cotton. The densely woven fabrics are highly abrasion-resistant and wind-resistant. Though already providing excellent weather-resistance, the fabrics can be made almost completely waterproof with the use of Greenland Wax (sold separately).
Expertly designed for mobility and comfort: The jacket features articulated construction that makes sure your movements are completely unhindered. There are ventilation zippers with double sliders on the torso under the arms so you can dump excess heat. A fully adjustable, helmet-compatible hood, an adjustable hem, and adjustable cuffs combine to enhance overall coverage and fine tune fit.
Adventure-oriented storage and organization: The jacket has numerous pockets for skins, gloves, a transceiver, or any number of other winter essentials. There is a snap-closure chest pocket as well as two deep zippered front pockets and mesh interior stash pockets.

Why apply Greenland Wax?

If you prefer to trade some breathability for enhanced weather-protection, you can always consider applying Greenland Wax to the exterior of the pants. G-1000 is a tough material with a tight weave that provides natural wind-resistance, but by adding Greenland Wax, which is made of a mixture of beeswax and paraffin, you can greatly increase the wind- and water-resistance as well as durability. It's easy to do; simply apply the block of Greenland Wax (sold separately) in long, smooth strokes to leave behind a thin, even layer. Using an iron (or a hairdryer) on low to moderate heat, melt the wax into the fabric again using long, even strokes. The wax melts at between 131-140 degrees Fahrenheit (55-60 degrees Celsius); anything greater will cause the wax to get too runny. Repeat as needed for stronger or refreshed protection.

How does it fit?
