Amazing Service

The innovative Gregory Optic 58 internal frame backpack tips the scales at just over 2.5 pounds but comes equipped with a feature set and load-hauling capability that most packs that weight simply cannot offer.

Description

The innovative Gregory Optic 58 internal frame backpack tips the scales at just over 2.5 pounds but comes equipped with a feature set and load-hauling capability that most packs that weight simply cannot offer.

The pack's suspension system utilizes a perimeter frame constructed of ultra-lightweight 7001 aluminum and includes anti-barreling support to ensure that weight is balanced and stabilized. Weight is transferred to the load-bearing lumbar support to minimize fatigue on your shoulders and back. A ventilated backpanel and dual-density padding in the contoured harness and hipbelt combine to increase comfort, fit, and breathability. Load lifter straps and an adjustable sternum strap further enhance fit and ensure stability. To ensure a customized fit, the pack is available in Small (best fits 16"-18" torso lengths), Medium (18"-20"), and Large (20"-22") size options.

The top-loading pack offers more than 3300 cubic inches of storage capacity. A protective top lid includes internal storage but can also be removed entirely when the additional storage isn't needed or you simply want to travel lighter. Even with the lid removed, a small, buckled flap protects the interior of the packbag. A large front stretch pocket enables you to keep discarded layers or other gear close at hand. Side compression straps allow you to cinch down the packbag to keep the contents of the pack stabilized and also double as external lash points.

Other features include large side stretch water bottle pockets, zippered hipbelt pockets, trekking pole attachments, a front harness quick-stow feature for sunglasses, and an included raincover. An integrated sleeve and exit port make the pack hydration compatible (hydration system sold separately).

The Gregory Optic 58 internal frame backpack is available in your choice of size and color options.

  • AeroSpan suspension offers 360 degree moisture wicking ventilation and tensioned perimeter frame load management while maintaining a lightweight design
  • Ventilated dual-density FocusForm shoulder harness and extra supportive hipbelt with targeted comfort zones
  • Leaf-spring lumbar pad for comfortable, energy-saving load transfer
  • Ultralight 7001 aluminum perimeter frame with anti-barreling support
  • Removable top lid

  • Raincover included in top pocket
  • Sunglass quickstow
  • Front stretch mesh pocket

I would prefer a fold over top instead of a draw string.

Wow!

Love this pack. I am in the process of moving from a Baltoro 55 into this (still have to keep the Baltoro around for winter) and the difference is night and day. Love the over 2 lb weight loss with this pack. It has room for everything I take on multi-day trips with enough room left over for a bear canister if needed. As always, Backcountryedge's service is phenominal.

LIGHT/ DURABLE/ COMFORTABLE

Likes

ITS VERY COMFORTABLE TO WEAR. ITS SUPER EASY TO ORGANIZE YOUR GEAR BECAUSE ITS SIMPLE DESIGN. ALSO THE MATERIAL IS WATER RESISTANT. AND THE POCKETS ON THE OUTSIDE ARE GREAT TO PUT SANDALS IN. MY BASE WEIGHT IS 20LBS.

Dislikes

NO DISLIKES, ITS AMAZING!

Excellent value and features

Likes

I was looking for a pack that was both extremely light and had an internal frame. This pack has more features, like hip pockets, than the Osprey Exos.

Great Lightweight Pack!

Likes

This is an excellent lightweight option. Packed with features like hip belt pockets, comfortable harness pad straps, rain cover, sleeping pad strap, easily accessible sunglass holder, removable top lid with a fast cover option, and all this in a pack that weighs less than 2.5 lbs. Love the color scheme! It is a great looking pack.

Dislikes

Very thin material used for the water bottles pockets and back stuff pocket. I have mixed feelings about the added lumbar support; it takes away some breathability on the back panel, but adds load distribution and support.

Great features, not a fan of the lumbar pad.

Likes

Included Rain Cover Hip belt Pockets Overall, I would say this pack has better features than the Exos.

Dislikes

I did not like the lumbar pad or the fit of the pack. I was between this bag and the Exos and decided on the Exos due to the superior comfort. I felt that the lumbar pad did not breath well and was not as comfortable as the Exos.

Lightweight but one issue

Likes

Very lightweight. Nice suspension.

Dislikes

My one issue is the fabric at the bottom of the back panel seems to be very rough. When the pack is loaded with 20 pounds the lumbar section seems to be uncomfortable to the lower back. The mesh that is used may not be very durable.

Great Lightweight Pack with Nice Feature Set

Likes

I like the AeroSpan suspension. The frame transfers the load to the hipbelt while keeping the pack away from my back for better ventilation. The shoulder straps and hipbelt are well padded and the materials also help with ventilation. I also like the dual access side packets and large stretch front pocket. I like that you can remove the top lid and use the included lightweight flap instead of the lid. The included rain cover is nice addition.

Dislikes

I wish the top lid had longer rear straps so it could be raised to accommodate larger loads. I wish the shoulder straps had daisy chain so you could attach accessories to them.
