A higher-cut version of the award-winning Speedgoat trail running shoe the lightweight but supportive Hoka One One Men's Speedgoat Mid WP hiking boot is ideal for thru-hikers and fastpackers.

With midsole volume that far exceeds standard hiking or running shoes Hoka One One footwear provides enhanced cushioning and shock absorption. While visually this may look bulky the performance-enhancing cushioning is actually extremely lightweight.

The mid-cut boot's synthetic upper delivers comfort and breathability and does away with the long break-in period that you get with all-leather boots. Strategic overlays bolster durability enhance lateral support and help to stabilize your foot and lock your heel in place. A proprietary waterproof/breathable lining helps to keep your feet dry and comfortable. With a 32mm heel and a 28mm forefoot the shoe has a moderate 4mm drop.

The durable Vibram MegaGrip rubber outsole utilizes 5mm multi-directional lugs and a trail-specific tread to deliver reliable traction on all surfaces.

Montana and Nevada hiker

These are comfortable and sturdy, but I was expecting more of a hiking boot and less of a high top basketball sneaker type of shoe. They have good support and the usual Hoka comfort, but I just wasn't that impressed with this model after having had Hoka hiking boots before (that I loved). I would not recommend this model for anything more than easy to moderate hiking. Lugs are not aggressive.

Dislikes

Too much like a basketball shoe and not enough like a hiking boot for me. I think these are comfortable wearing around for short hikes and walks, but they lack the substance and feel of a true hiking boot.
