Description

  • Clean, drinkable water for running, cycling, hiking and more: The BeFree's EZ-Clean Membrane is a 0.1 micron hollow fiber filter that removes bacteria, cysts and sediment from your drinking water. It has a flow rate of up to 2 liters per minute so you can get your water and continue on your way.
  • Compact and collapsible for easy storage: Weighing in at about 2.5 ounces, the filter consists of a screw cap with the hollow fiber membrane and a durable TPU soft flask that's PVC and BPA free. The crushable flask easily compresses around the filter cap when not in use, so you can stash it in your pack, running vest, or cycling jersey!
  • Easy cleaning in the field: As the name suggests, the EZ-Clean Membrane doesn't require tools or complicated cleaning processes. Just shake or swish the filter and flask with water in it to gently clean the hollow fibers so you're ready to go for the next adventure.

Capacity and care
To get the most out of your filter, simply shake or swish the system with some water before you hit the trail. The EZ-Clean Membrane has a capacity of up to 1,000 liters, depending on water quality. The Katadyn BeFree Black Replacement Cartridge (sold separately) can be purchased to extend the life of the system beyond that point.

Water is heavy and carrying a bunch of it, especially when you’re running, can be not just heavy but also a nuisance. So long as there are creeks or other water sources to be had, the BeFree filter lets me get away with carrying just a soft flask or two and treating water as I go. And since it weighs next to nothing, the filter rides along pretty much every time I hit the trail, just in case.
