High quality premium water filter that can do almost everything you would want it to. Perfect for giving you the peace of mind you seek when filtering water in the backcountry. Returned my MSR guardian for this as the guardian leaked out of the O ring

With any pump filter you have a hose system, a collection system / prefilter, and a pump system including the main filter unit. A squeeze pump handle is a pretty vulnerable pump system. An old school bicycle pump style is not as vulnerable and when you add in high strength materials you end up with an exceptionally robust unit. I'm not sure if I can point to any pump filter on the market and say anything is even somewhat robust. This thing is not ultralight, it isn't lightweight, it could be considered heavy. We all count ounces but I have the strength, even if only mentally, to carry that extra eight. The reason this is not unreasonable is due to the cylindrical shape of the unit and sack which make it all easy to find the space for it in you pack; at the bottom, at the top, horizontal, vertical, whatever. How about a 20 year warranty? I like that too.

I don't have any dislikes but the weight or price are the only complaints one could have against his device.

The best of its kind that I have found out there. I have used this in the field and have included it my emergency prep equipment proving to be incredibly sturdy and predictable.

On the heavy side when you are counting ounces on a hike. Also was surprised how expensive this product was compared to the competition.

This filter is superb. It is solidly constructed and built to filter thousands of gallons. It doesn't feel cheap or flimsy like some other models. The filter is compatible with a small carbon filter accessory that is good for about 50 gallons per refill. The carbon filter, combined with the ceramic, will give you clean water pretty much anywhere. I recommend this not only to backpackers but also to international travelers.
Dislikes
The sleeve is made of plastic. While it is well-constructed, the smooth surface doesn't give you a good grip when it's wet out. I added some grip tape to remedy that. Like all water filters you have to make sure it is properly used in climates that reach frozen temperatures.

A little on the heavy side but I'd rather carry a little extra weight and know I have a bulletproof, extremely reliable filter.

Wonderful. I took this on a 50 miler and it was fast and did everything I needed it to do. I also liked how it came with spare parts insteaed of having to order them if something broke.

I wish the outlet hoses where slightly longer.
