Description

The Kelty Night Owl 4P offers excellent livability at an affordable price. Easy to set up and equipped with pockets that help with illumination, it's ideal for anyone who appreciates increased visibility when setting up camp after dark.

This tent measures 99” x 84” and has an interior 54.75 square feet of internal space. The peak height is 62 inches so you enjoy excellent headroom. There are two vented vestibules which each protect 13 square feet.

There are three aluminum poles that together provide reliable structural integrity and ample elbow room. Pockets at the corners of the tent keep one end of the pole secure as you move around to deal with the other end. This prevents the common problem of tent poles jumping out of grommets as soon as you walk away. Guy line pockets mean that you won’t have bits of line blowing in the wind.

The tent has two doors to easily accommodate the traffic of four people. The walls are No-see-um mesh and the floor is tough 68 denier fabric, water resistant to 1800 mm. The seams are taped to keep moisture on the outside. The freestanding design means you can pitch the tent and then move it around to find the best site. Internal storage pockets include a ceiling pocket. Some of these are nightlight pockets, made to convert your headlamp’s beam into a comfortable interior glow.

The tent is protected by a waterproof 68 denier rainfly. But this isn’t just any rainfly. This night-themed tent boasts Kelty’s popular Stargazing Fly system. This arrangement lets you quickly and easily roll up a portion of the rainfly. Secure the rolled fly with simple clips and you’re free to enjoy a view of the stars and reap the benefits of increased ventilation. If the weather changes or you want more privacy, simply unclip the fly, roll it down and secure it to the tent corners.

This tent includes Kelty’s Shark Mouth stuff sack, designed to make stuffing easier. A custom footprint (sold separately) can further protect your tent from wet ground, roots and rocks.

Great and Comfortable Tent Even in Wet Conditions

Likes

I was able to camp 3 days in this tent in the mist, fog and rain and it held up great. It didnt leak and the duel doors and vents allowed it to stay ventilated and dry. Very easy set up can be done with one person or fastest with 2. Easy to take down and stuff in the carrying bag as well. Great car camping tent as 10lbs is to heavy for a backpacking tent. 4 person tent had enough space for my wife and I and all of our gear. The hooks for the lighting and pockets for gear helped keep the lights and gear close at hand and off the floor. This seems to be a very durable build. The privacy once the rain fly was on is great as well.

Dislikes

Weight of 10 pounds if your looking to go back packing you can get a lighter tent. However for car camping this is great and a good size enough to stow your gear when it is raining so it doesn't get wet.

Awesome tent!

The whole tent is great! The color coordination makes set up very simple without the need to read the directions. The four storage pockets are at a good height and located in convenient locations. We slept on a queen sized air mattress and still had plenty of room for our bags. The light diffuser pockets were very convenient and eliminated the need for a lantern or having to find a place to prop up a flashlight/headlamp. There are loops in the ceiling. I’m assuming they are for hanging a gear net but I haven’t seen anything specific. Now, about the stargazer fly...WOW! Such a simple thing but it really made this tent the perfect tent. Woke up to cool fresh air and a flawless view of the valley both mornings. I’ve removed the fly before to enjoy the stars but when an unexpected rain wakes you up it is an uncoordinated shuffle to cover the tent back up. I just end up getting wet and cranky. I absolutely love the ability to quickly secure the fly (with the exception of the guy lines) in case of rain from the doorway, without stepping outside of the tent. Full disclosure, it wasn’t raining when I tried it. There were plenty of “nobendium” stakes provided. The large storage bag allowed me to store the footprint, in its own storage pouch, in with the tent. Overall, I’m very happy with this tent.

Dislikes

The only “dislike” I can come up with is that the orientation of the tent as to what side of the fly that rolls up for stargazing wasn’t obvious. Now that I have used the tent I know so it isn’t much of a problem.

Love it

So I bought this tent because I need something I didn't have to kneel down to get in or out. I love my alps 2p tent but I'll use that when I go backpacking. I have bad knees. I thought the 4p would be soooo big but it really isn't. The height is perfect. When I stood up in it my head hit the ceiling but that's ok. I don't mind bending my head little. Was very easy to set up. didn't it in like 5 mins. It is a bit heavy so car camping only (LOL). Unless you split up the pieces with friends to backpack. Cant wait to really use it. Also Cheyne, one of Enwild customer reps was sooo helpful, Thank You
