Description

A long-time trail favorite, the versatile Kelty Redwing 50 (3100 cubic inches) is big enough for a day-and-a-half of backcountry hiking and streamlined enough for use as an around-town day pack. A host of functional features make it a true do-it-all pack.

A single LightBeam aluminum stay and an HDPE framesheet equip the Redwing 50 with lightweight, reliable support. Hex mesh and strategic channeling on the backpanel allow warm air to escape so that you stay cooler while carrying weight. The integrated PerfectFIT suspension system adjust to accommodate torso lengths ranging from 15.5”-21” and does so on-the-fly. Instead of having to take the pack on and off to make fine-tune adjustments, simply pull on the PerfectFIT straps and dial in the fit quickly and easily. A contoured, padded waistbelt offers comfortable load support. Kelty's patented Scherer Cinch uses a pulley-like system to double the tightening force on the waistbelt, ensuring that the brunt of the pack's weight rests on your hips. When you aren't carrying heavy loads and don't need the additional support, you can remove the waistbelt entirely and reduce the weight of the pack. Load lifter straps relieve stress on your shoulders and an adjustable sternum strap positions the shoulder straps across the chest to prevent chafing under the arms and on the shoulders. Side compression straps help you to cinch and secure the contents of the pack for optimal balance and load distribution.

The main packbag of the Redwing 50 is accessed through a large, zippered front entry that allows the entire face of the pack to open wide for convenient loading and unloading. An additional large pocket located on the front panel provides internal organizational options. Additional features include zippered side pockets, a stash pocket, an ice-axe loop, a carry handle, a hide-away daisy-chain attachment system, and dual mesh water bottle pockets. A lined interior pocket and built-in tube exit make the pack hydration system (sold separately) compatible.

The Kelty Redwing 50 is available in your choice of color options.

Really good bag....but was heavy for a beginner day hike

Likes

- Sturdy build - Really good fit - Lots of Organization

Dislikes

- Seemed heavy for a day hike for beginners like me. I took it on a hike to Mount Washington and ended up making a bad choice, otherwise I thought it was a pretty good bag

Excellent pack

Likes

Extremely comfortable with great adjustability. Bought this to replace my twenty year old pack that is still being used by my my daughter. This is a durable and well made pack and would definitely buy again. Backcountry Edge had the best price and shipping was fast. Will be buying more products here.

Perfect Day Pack

Likes

Large enough to fit all your gear for a long day hike; good strap system and padding; love that it is a hydration pack.

Dislikes

Would be nice to have a built-in rain cover.

Not to bad

Likes

great for day hikes or traveling for a few days. I bought this primarily for day hiking and now have started using it for short weekend trips. at 50 liters its big enough to use for overnight trail excursions and the side pockets have a pass through for tent poles or trekking poles. the back pocket is compartmentalized makes it easy to find small items when needed. The pack carries weight well and is of quality build.

Dislikes

pack is a little heavy for 50 liters but I'm comparing the weight to my 68 liter ULA Circuit. overall it is well worth the money.
