The mix of leather and Cordura makes the Zephyr Desert Mid TF boot more responsive than all-leather offerings but you should still expect a break-in period ahead of extended.

Lowa's exclusive Monowrap construction ensures reliable stability even under the load of a heavy pack. Consisting of a dual-density PU heel counter a full-length stabilizer embedded in the midsole an integrated shock-absorbing midsole and a durable rubber outsole this construction combines structural support fatigue-preventative cushioning and all-surface traction.

Love the Zephyr non-GTX mids for desert hiking, but prefer the non Task Force version, which Lowa has discontinued.

Likes

Breathability, traction, minimal to no break-in period, good weight, the last that this boot is designed on is a great fit for my foot. I probably have owned 7 or 8 Zephyr Mids over the years.

Dislikes

Lacing style of the Task Force model is closed loops. I preferred the open hooks of the non Task Force version since you could tighten the laces more precisely. Only other slight downside is the wearability of the sole.
