Some ounce-counting thru-hikers and backpackers would just as soon not deal with the weight and bulk of an entire tent. The minimalist Marmot Agate caters to those wishes. It weighs in at just a pound with its included full-length pole and can be reduced to just 13.4 ounces if pitched with trekking poles (not included).
When pitched, the Agate provides 34.5 square feet of protection which is enough to accommodate up to two backpackers. The floorless structure has a bit of awning protection, but it does not provide any true vestibule space.
A DAC Pressfit pole is included along with stakes to allow for a secure pitch of the non-freestanding shelter. To save weight, you can leave the included pole at home and utilize adjustable trekking poles in its place. NOTE that the peak height and internal space will vary depending on the height and angle of the trekking poles.
