The jacket is insulated with 600-fill water-resistant down. Untreated down can fail in wet conditions losing its ability to insulate. Specially-treated down like Marmot's Down Defender stays dry longer and dries faster than untreated down allowing you to trust the jacket longer when the weather turns bad. The jacket's lightweight polyester fabric is down-proof to keep feathers from poking through. A DWR treatment adds moisture-protection to the fabric.
Zippered pockets provide a warm place for your hands and secure storage for valuables. The elastic drawcord hem seals out wind and rain. When the sun is shining the jacket packs into its own pocket so you can easily stow it in your pack.
Available in your choice of size and color the Marmot Ares Jacket has a regular fit that allows you to comfortably layer beneath it.
