Description

The Marmot CWM -40 Degree sleeping bag has been field tested in extreme conditions all across the globe. It offers a host of cold-weather attributes including high-fill-power down, a waterproof/breathable shell, draft-stopping features, and a high-tech hood.

The bag is insulated with lofty Responsible Down Standard-certified 800 fill power goose down which delivers maximum warmth and compressibility. A waterproof/breathable PertexShield 30D ripstop nylon shell gives you and the insulation durable protection while Pertex Microlight 30D ripstop nylon on the interior provides next-to-skin comfort.

When down insulation moves around too much you can end up with "dead" spots that diminish thermal efficiency. The bag's stretchy, strategically-oriented "cross-baffle" construction prevents this movement so you can enjoy consistent, reliable warmth. The side seams have been moved to ground level to minimize heat rising and being lost through the seams. Inside, a draft tube prevents cold air from slipping through the zipper.

Other features include a baffled insulated hood, a down-filled draft collar, and a baffled footbox with wrap-around construction and a reinforced lining, zipper guards, and a hidden draft tube pocket. Both a stuff sack and a storage sack are included.

The Marmot CWM -40 Degree sleeping bag is available in your choice of Regular (fits up to 6') and Long (up to 6' 6") size options.

Excellent but not perfect.

I’m 6’ and went with the long version which appears to be the right choice. (Not field tested, yet. Just initial impressions) It has a generous and well designed hood which could probably, in some cases, eliminate need for a pillow. Cross baffles should prevent down from shifting. Quite roomy foot box. The long size has enough inside space to freely move around. Convenient and large home storage sack. It will be used with Helinox cot max. Hopefully without a need for insulated pad. It’s probably an overkill for my needs but I’m a cold sleeper who is willing to completely unzip than endure shivers.

Dislikes

This bag deserves a much better quality and higher gauge zipper (to me it feels a bit cheap) I’m afraid this zipper already has some snagging tendencies. It also needs a bigger packing sack, preferably with compression straps. It can be packed but I had to use my body weight to compress it completely, before stuffing it inside the sack.

Very large storage sack which it needs, as it is fluffy! Looks like it is built with quality material and skill.

Dislikes

Just the fear of trying to get it into the smaller carry sack.
