A versatile option for 3-season backpacking or camping, the Marmot Radium 20 Degree sleeping bag utilizes high-performance down insulation that has been treated to offer bolstered weather resistance.
Fill power measures the loft, or "fluffiness," of down insulation and Marmot goes to great lengths to guarantee the 650+ certification found in the Radium bag. Renowned for their efficiency in retaining heat and compressible properties, the feathers and fibers of down have an incredibly soft, comfortable feel and, despite advances in synthetic materials, continue to provide the best warmth-to-weight ratio of any insulation available. The one weakness of down insulation is that it loses much of its ability to maintain warmth when it gets wet, but Marmot combats this by applying a Down Defender water repellent treatment that allows the down to stay dry longer, maintain loft, and dry faster than untreated down. Most importantly, it retains its ability to keep you warm even if damp or wet. Polyester and nylon ripstop exterior fabrics with a DWR treatment further protect the insulation.
Eliminating cold spots and providing comfort, sewn-through baffles ensure that insulation is evenly distributed throughout the bag. Ground-level side seams make it difficult for body heat to escape through the zipper and a draft tube seals cold air out of the bag along the zipper. An ergonomic hood helps to reduce heat loss and an insulated draft tube behind the full-length zipper keeps cold air from keeping in from the side of the bag. Zipper guards help to avoid irritating and damaging snags and two-way sliding zippers allow venting on warmer nights. An anatomically-shaped footbox is wider at the toes and narrower at the heels, providing a more natural fit while enhancing warmth and comfort.
The Marmot Radium 20 Degree sleeping bag is available in Regular (fits up to 6' 0") and Long (fits up to 6' 6") lengths. A stuff sack and a storage sack are included.
