Excellent piece for layering that functions well as versatile stand alone piece as well

Likes

Comfortable fit for fast movement. In some patagonia tops I wear a medium, including my shell, but for this I prefer a large as it makes it feel less restrictive. Micro grid pattern on the interior makes for some of the most efficient layering. Nice tight "scuba" hood. Functional but not obtrusive thumb loops.

Dislikes

Micro grid pattern on the interior can cause some chafing after multi-day backpacking or on my back during ultra running. If Patagonia found a way to get the pattern on the outside of the garment for the same weight and insulation this would be a 5 star review. As a standalone piece the wind cuts straight through the micro grid. This is an advantage in many cases where I need to cool down, though, and any wind blocking layers bring the insulation value right back
