The iconic Mystery Ranch Terraplane pack is an absolute workhorse and practically bombproof backcountry favorite. It's constructed of highly-durable materials, has an abundance of pockets, and employs a high-tech, load-hauling frame.
Balancing weight and strength, the pack utilizes an HDPE frame to deliver torsional rigidity. Four vertical composite stays maximize load-hauling capability while durable webbing and foam provide strength and flexibility. Padding in the shoulder straps, backpanel, and waist belt offers supportive cushioning. A telescoping yoke gives the suspension excellent adjustability and an adjustable sternum strap and load-lifter straps combine to let you dial in fit and maximize weight distribution. The top-loading pack has over 5000 cubic inches of capacity in the main compartment and a side vertical zipper grants additional access when you want to quickly put hands on an item. A separate lower compartment is ideal for a sleeping bag or other gear you might want to keep separate from the contents of the main compartment. This is accessed by a unique horizontal zipper that makes for convenient packing and unpacking.
Other features include two large front zippered "torpedo" pockets, two zippered lid pockets, and two stretchy side bottle pockets. The lid can even be removed entirely for use as a day pack. A daisy chain down the center of the pack provides additional places to lash gear in addition to an integrated tool loop. Side compression straps aid in load stabilization and offer another option for external gear lashing. Burly 500 denier Lite Plus Cordura fabric and sturdy YKK zippers deliver long-term durability and all-condition reliability. A lined sleeve makes the pack hydration compatible (hydration system not included).
