Down insulation has long been renowned for its compressible properties and efficiency in delivering an excellent warmth-to-weight ratio. The shortcoming of down has been its susceptibility to the effects of moisture, losing much of its performance qualities when wet or damp. The Cleo 30's 650-fill Nikwax Hydrophobic down insulation provides water-repellency that keeps the insulation dry longer and allows it to dry faster if it should become wet. More importantly, it maintains thermal efficiency even if it becomes wet, a quality that could traditionally only be found in heavier, less-compressible synthetic fills. The bag's 30D ripstop nylon shell has a DWR treatment to further protect the insulation from the elements.
The bag's tapered mummy cut helps to save weight, reduce packed size, and maximize thermal efficiency. NEMO's unique, zippered "Thermo Gills" enable you to vent body heat at your core without having to unzip the entire bag. This temperature regulation feature allows the bag to remain comfortable in varying temperatures. Waterproof/breathable fabrics in the insulated footbox and hood protect the bag further from the condensation build up that frequents the inside of tent walls.
Another standout feature is NEMO’s soft, down-filled Blanket Fold design. This insulated panel at the collar of the bag mimics home bedding and can be tucked around the face on cold nights or lay flat when it’s not needed. Other features include a down-insulated draft tube and drawcord adjustability around the face.
