A perennial The North Face bestseller, the Furnace 20 Degree sleeping bag uses a hybrid insulation of treated down and synthetic fill to provide lightweight, compressible, 3-season backpacking performance.
The bag is insulated with The North Face’s proprietary 600-fill ProDown insulation. Down insulation has long been renowned for its compressible properties and efficiency in delivering an excellent warmth-to-weight ratio. The shortcoming of down has been its susceptibility to the effects of moisture, as it is prone to lose much of its performance qualities when wet or damp. ProDown insulation applies water-repellency to the down so that is highly resistant to moisture, dries quickly if it should become wet, and continues to provide insulation even if wet. A layer of Heatseeker Eco synthetic insulation aids in loft retention and increases all-weather performance. The bag’s 50D polyester taffeta fabrics further shield the insulation from the elements.
The bag has a comfort-oriented mummy cut. By tapering at the head and feet, thermal-efficiency is increased but there’s still a bit of room built in to keep you from feeling overly cramped. An intentionally vaulted footbox provides room for feet to be in their natural position. A fitted hood enhances warmth and an integrated draft collar helps to keep warm air trapped inside the bag.
The North Face Furnace 20 Degree sleeping bag is available in Regular (fits to 6’ 0”) and Long (6’ 6”) lengths. A stuff sack and storage sack are included.
