Description

Combining its hard-earned reputation as a rugged load-hauling option for extended backpacking trips with the revolutionary Anti-Gravity suspension the Osprey Aether AG 70 offers a dynamic responsive fit 4000+ cubic inches of storage capacity and a weight-carrying capacity of up to 60 pounds!

Osprey's innovative Anti-Gravity suspension system equips the pack with weight-carrying efficiency breathability and a contoured fit. A broad-mesh tensioned backpanel stretches all the way out across the lumbar portion of the pack. Though the pack maintains constant responsive contact with the wearer warm air can escape freely because of the separation caused between the mesh and the pack itself. Beneath the mesh a peripheral LightWire aluminum frame. A sliding sternum strap and adjustable load-lifter straps further enhance fit.

Accommodating backpackers of different heights the pack is available in your choice of sizes. The Small size fits torsos ranging from 16”-19” the Medium fits from 18”-21” the Large fits from 20”-23” and the Xlarge accommodates torso lengths ranging from 22”-25”. An Anti-Gravity IsoForm harness and a fully-padded moldable IsoForm hipbelt maximize performance fit and comfort.

The pack’s large main compartment is reached through a traditional top-loading access point but a large J-shaped zipper on the front of the pack also allows quick access to the interior. Additionally a lower compartment serves as a dedicated spot for stowing your sleeping bag or other clothes and gear. A removable divider enables you to open up the interior to create a single spacious compartment. A large front pocket utilizes welded stretch woven fabric to serve as a convenient storage spot for discarded layers or other gear. Elastic side pockets are ideal for stashing water bottles or other smaller items. Integrated hipbelt pockets provide a spot to keep essentials close at hand. Side compression straps enable you to cinch down your pack to keep contents safely and securely in place and also double as lash points for additional gear. Buckled straps that pass over the front of the packbag are designed to further enhance the compressibility of the pack and provide yet another place to lash gear. A removable top lid protects the contents of the pack and can be removed entirely to save weight . Adding increased versatility the lid also serves as a streamlined stand-alone daypack with its own minimalist shoulder straps an adjustable sternum strap and an internal hydration sleeve.

Other features include integrated Stow-on-the-Go trekking pole loops ice axe loops with bungee tie-offs removable sleeping pad straps and an internal sleeve that makes the pack hydration compatible (hydration system sold separately).

The Osprey Aether AG 70 internal frame backpack is available in your choice of size and color options.

Like and dislike relationship

Likes

This is a snug bag designed with the human body in mind. Great size, and I like that the top comes off and makes a decent day pack that I've used on its own a few times. On a hot day, the only part that gets very sweaty is the between the shoulders so it does allow decent ventilation. Tons of bells and whistles on this pack and really nice!

Dislikes

The mesh design sets it away from your back, and I am hunchbacked, which makes it worse towards the top. I can get it closer with careful adjusting, but not as close as the older ~2015 Aether models which seems to fit me better. Good technology, but a new pack over 5lbs seems to be heading in the wrong direction. Taking the top off will get it down to 4.3 lbs. though. For comparison, my external frame packs with 70s-80s technology are ~5lbs. Lastly, the hip pockets require two hands to open for some reason which I find annoying (flexible soft fabric?).

Changed my life

Likes

I used a Kelty Super Tioga external frame pack for twenty years. I loved it, and used it for numerous extended and lengthy trips. I had tried a number of internal frame packs and never found them to have the capacity or versatility of my old Kelty. This Aether AG 70 changed all that. I have carried 45 pounds + (I carry overflow items for other family members) in greater ease than I ever experienced before. I tried other brands and styles, and the Aether AG 70 fits me better than others. I really appreciate the ability to access the main pack from the side. The removeable lid/daypack is especially welcome.

Nice Pack

Likes

Not had a chance to hike with it, only loaded out in store for fit. It seems of very good quality and per other reviews I expect it to hold up great like my other Osprey day pack and sacks.

Great overall pack

Likes

• Pocket orientation is great, easy to compartmentalize different gear. • I can actively feel the mesh shedding heat as I hike. • Sits comfortably on the back. • Plenty of room for multi day trips in the wilderness or car. • Detachable lid turns into a pack that is super useful for short trips with most of your gear at camp/in the car. • Water bladder compartment in the large bag and the detachable is a huge plus.

Dislikes

• The sleeping bag compartment opening is very small compared to others I have used. Anything other than a quality 3 season bag that squishes down small will force you to unstrap the divider between the compartment and the rest of the bag.

Great proven pack

Likes

This is my second Osprey Aether 70 pack. Loved the first one so much I picked up a new one (old one is still going strong and will be passed to my son) I love the suspension system. Pack is comfortable. Love the integrated day pack. Chose the green color to blend in.

Dislikes

I wish the pack where a few ounces lighter. It is truly a well built pack

Awesome Pack!!!

Likes

I ordered a medium pack based on my torso length. I tried getting Enwild to swap out the medium hip belt for a large but they didn't have any extras in stock. They advised me to call Osprey directly and have them ship me one. When I received the pack I tried it on and the medium was definitely to small. I called Osprey and they sent me a large hip belt free of charge and they paid for the shipping. At first, they said they couldn't send me the hip belt until I sent them the old one. I explained to the lady that I had a backpacking trip coming up and I wouldn't get the large hip belt back in time. She said to ship the medium belt to her and send the tracking number and she would get the large sent out that day. I received the belt 2 days before my trip and couldn't be happier with the purchase. The pack was extremely comfortable and I'm extremely happy with both Enwild and Osprey's customer service!!!!

Nice pack. It's my 3rd Osprey.

Likes

Detachable top pack. Roomy side compartments for 48 oz water bottles. Plenty of room for a weekend backpacking trip. Fits all my gear. Above all, comfortable to wear.

Dislikes

Zippers are difficult to open and close on the front belt pockets. Same problem on my 26L pack. Not a show stopper though. Keeps what I need close at hand.

High Quality

Likes

Interchangeable hip belt and shoulder harness, super high quality materials, love the orange color, comfortable for heavy loads, tons of attachment points, rear access

Dislikes

Didn't quite fit my body as well as the Atmos, especially with lighter loads (25-30 lbs in my case), with it had a couple additional pockets in rear

Excellent Fit Comfort

Likes

The new upgraded Osprey Aether 70 with the AG system is a huge improvement from the recent model along with other new upgrades. I love how the new AG contours to the body making it much easier to carry the load in the pack, the shoulder harness is super comfy as well with the added thickness to the straps. Also the detachable lid that converts into a day pack is a bonus. Overall a great pack so far. For me, this is definitely a number one favorite pack as I have only used Osprey for the backcountry. Looking forward to continuing the Journey on the trail with Osprey and the awesome service from Enwild.

Outstanding piece of equipment!

Distributes the load over my 64 year old frame brilliantly. My wife and I just went on our first little trek overnight and this pack easily handled all the gear a rookie needed.

excellent pack.

Likes

Spent a month in India-planes, trains, automobiles, hiking. Hotels, Friends and families homes. The pack made it easy to carry a lot of stuff. The detachable pack was great for one and two day excursions. I am excited to try this pack on a more traditional hiking trip.

Dislikes

The water bladder cubby is cool all, but if this pack had a side pocket or net pocket to fit a waterbottle, that would make it perfect.
