My primary reason for getting this bag is that-- going by the official Osprey size specification of "23H X 35W X 55D CM" (I think most people would think of it as 55H X 35W X 23D instead though)-- it fits the carry-on size requirements for United, Delta, Air Canada, and Ryanair (checked in May 2025), although for Ryanair you'd technically need to squeeze the depth from 23cm to 20cm. Anyways, the width and depth can be squeezed since it's not a hard-shell, but note that the height is essentially unsqueezeable because of the bag's frame. Some smaller, but nice things: I like that the two flaps on the front-- which hold down a daypack-- also cover the zippers to the main compartment. Although I still plan on being careful in crowded areas, the covered zippers make me feel more at ease that my bag won't be opened during a momentary lapse of awareness. I want to say that I like the thickness of the fabric, but not wanting to destroy a perfectly good bag, I have not tried to cut or slash it to test.

I think a common complaint is that the bag trades off some more weight and less space for more structure. I'm not as constrained by weight, but the frame and padding take up a lot of volume which could be used for more clothing, food, etc. I would say that in using this bag, you are purposely giving up some volume for a more comfortable walking experience.
