Built for a wide range of active pursuits in cool weather, the Outdoor Research Men's Deviator Hoodie can retain warmth when it's crucial yet breathe and shed heat when moving, thanks to innovative, body-mapped insulation.

Description

  • Smart insulation for high-output activities: Synthetic VerticalX Octa insulation does not require an interior liner fabric and has an open structure, allowing it to breathe more effectively. It's also 50% lighter than traditional polyester insulation, has an outstanding warmth-to-weight ratio, is superb at wicking moisture, and is soft against the skin. This insulation is paired with thermo-regulating ActiveTemp hybrid-mapped fabrics for superior breathability and warmth.
  • Boddy-mapped construction for complete freedom of movement: As an active garment, the hoodie is designed with lightweight stretch-woven softshell fabric on the front, shoulders, sleeves, and hood for weather resistance and a breathable polyester/spandex grid fleece on the back, side panels, and under the arms for full range of motion.
  • Functional details for comfort and convenience: The insulated hood has a bonded brim and stretch elastic opening for secure fit when in use. There's also zippered hand pockets and a chest pocket for small essentials.

One test drive and the Deviator instantly became my go-to winter running jacket. I was a big fan of the original version, but the athletic redesign gives this one next level performance. Cold-weather layering for running can be tricky and I tend to err on the side of being cold because of a tendency to overheat but the Deviator really delivers on its temperature-regulation promise, so I stay dry and comfortable while I’m moving and also when I’ve stopped.
