Designed for all-day adventure, the Altra Running Men's Olympus 5 Hike Low GTX offers maximum cushioning, waterproof protection, and superior traction for long-distance hiking.
As with all Altra offerings, the shoe has a FootShape toe box that differs greatly from the aggressive taper of traditional running shoes. This broader cut lets your big toe to remain in a straight position while allowing your other toes to spread naturally, reducing the risk for cramped toes, blisters, and other painful conditions that often plague runners. The shoe also utilizes Altra's Balanced Cushioning platform, where the height of the heel and the forefront are the same, to encourage a natural stride rather than elevating the heel or manipulating foot position. This is meant to promote better alignment and a more natural posture while on the move which in turn lessens impact.
The sturdy upper incorporates a waterproof/breathable GORE-TEX membrane to keep your feet dry and comfortable. The shoe's premium collar helps to enhance fit and secure your midfoot. Luxurious Altra EGO MAX foam in the midsole delivers comfort for extended mileage while reducing fatigue. The midsole also features Altra's Innerflex technology to allow for flexibility and movement that keeps you connected to the trail underfoot.
Weighing roughly 2 pounds, 1.4 ounces per pair, the shoe has a 33mm stack height. A premium Vibram MegaGrip rubber outsole ensures confident traction on varied surfaces.
