The bag is insulated with FireLine Max synthetic insulation. This high-performance fill is made from 50% post-consumer recycled polyester and maximizes loft and warmth. Unlike down insulation, it can also continue to keep you warm even if it should become wet. The bag's nylon rip-stop shell fabric has a surface treatment that further helps to repel moisture and protect the insulation. A polyester lining with its own water repellent finish offers excellent next-to-skin comfort.

In a traditional sleeping system, the bag lies on top of a sleeping pad. In this configuration, many people find themselves rolling off the pad at night. Not only that, but the insulation on the bottom of the bag is often compressed by the sleeper's weight and, once compressed, the fill loses most of its insulating properties. The Big Agnes System is different and joins the bag and the pad together. The Pad Cinch System on the bottom of the bag accommodates pads of varying lengths, widths, and thicknesses and ensures that the pad stays beneath you. It also enables the pad to deliver warmth and it allows Big Agnes to save weight and bulk by only lightly insulating the bottom of the bag itself. You'll stay warm and you can roll and move comfortably during the night without ever worrying about slipping off your pad.

The bag is designed to be used with any two single-wide pads or one doublewide pad up to 60" in width. The ideal pad size is 50" x 78", and rectangular-shaped pads are recommended. The Pad Cinch System uses an outer drawstring to secure the bag to the pad(s) and a middle securement strap for extra security. There's also an integrated pad coupler to make sure single-wide pads don't move around in the night. Make sure that any pads used have an R-value or suggested temperature range to match the bag's temperature rating.

Comfort and versatility make this bag a favorite for the campground or RV. The quilted top layer has double anti-snag zippers for easy entry from either side, or for venting, and has corner hand pockets you can use to tuck it around your shoulders. It can also be zipped off entirely for use as a blanket around camp or folded in half and zipped together for use as a solo sleeping bag. A double wide insulated ergonomic hood with adjustable cinch cords, draft tubes located along the length of the quilted top layer, and a draft collar combine to lock in heat and keep out cold air to enhance warmth and comfort. Built-in "barns" keep pillows (pillows not included) tucked securely beneath sleepers' heads and an integrated Free Range footbox provides ample wiggle room for feet and toes.
