- Water-resistant, packable insulation in a low-profile design: Employing Big Agnes's Signature Diamond Quilting, the jacket uses less stitching that traditional quilt lines and 650-fill DownTek insulation to achieve a high warmth-to-weight ratio in dry or wet conditions. Unlike bulky, long-cut puffy jackets, the Shovelhead packs a ton of warmth into a cut and fit that better allows for a free range of motion.
- Lightweight, abrasion-resistant, weather-protective exterior: The jacket's 20D recycled ripstop nylon face fabric balances weight an durability while allowing the insulation beneath it to reach its fullest loft to maximize thermal efficiency without adding excess bulk or weight. A PFC-free durable water-repellent coating further bolsters protection against the elements.
- Numerous other weight-conscious, performance-oriented features: A fully-adjustable, insulated hood enhances warmth and extends protection. A built-in brim helps to ward off the elements while ensuring a clear line of sight. A full-length front zipper, elastic cuffs, and an adjustable hem help to keep out the cold. There are two internal drop-in pockets, zippered hand pockets, and a zippered external chest pocket that doubles as a stuff sack for the jacket when not being worn.
