Description
- Fabrication that weaves durability and mobility into one: The pants use G-1000 Lite Stretch fabric on the front, which is a blend of recycled polyester, virgin polyester, and organic cotton that effectively balances weight, durability, and comfort. You can even extend the fabric's weather resistance by applying Greenland Wax (sold separately)! On the back, a full-stretch elastane blend provides excellent freedom of movement.
- Full coverage that keeps you cool whatever the weather: The stretch fabric on the back of the pants provides excellent breathability, and zippered thigh vents help you dump excess heat quickly.
- Additional features enhance fit and functionality: The pants have a tailored fit to promote mobility and drawcord adjustments at the cuffs that allow you to fine tune the fit. The laminated elastic waistband keeps the pants from sagging, though you can also use the integrated belt loops for extra security. Two open hand pockets and two buttoned leg pockets (one with a zippered closure) offer plenty of storage for small essentials.
Why apply Greenland Wax?
If you prefer to trade some breathability for enhanced weather-protection, you can always consider applying Greenland Wax to the front G-1000 fabric. G-1000 is a tough material with a tight weave that provides natural wind-resistance, but by adding Greenland Wax, which is made of a mixture of beeswax and paraffin, you can greatly increase the wind- and water-resistance as well as durability. It's easy to do; simply apply the block of Greenland Wax (sold separately) in long, smooth strokes to leave behind a thin, even layer. Using an iron (or a hairdryer) on low to moderate heat, melt the wax into the fabric again using long, even strokes. The wax melts at between 131-140 degrees Fahrenheit (55-60 degrees Celsius); anything greater will cause the wax to get too runny. Repeat as needed for stronger or refreshed protection.
