Description
- Rugged exterior fabric with adaptable weather-protection: The jacket's G-1000 and G-1000 Lite fabrics are a blend of recycled polyester and organic cotton. The densely woven fabrics are highly abrasion-resistant and wind-resistant. Though already providing excellent weather-resistance, the fabrics can be made almost completely waterproof with the use of Greenland Wax (sold separately).
- Environmentally-conscious synthetic insulation provides dependable, consistent warmth: Premium PrimaLoft Black RISE insulation is a lofty recycled polyester fill that resists compression to ensure an even distribution of warmth. Unlike down insulation, its ability to insulate is unaffected by dampness so you can be confident you'll stay warm even when rain or wet snow are in the forecast. The insulation is produced through PrimaLoft's P.U.R.E manufacturing technology which greatly reduces carbon emissions relative to standard practices.
- An array of other fit and performance features: The full-length two-way front zipper allows for venting and a protective snap placket help to keep out drafts. An adjustable, insulated hood bolsters warmth and increases protective coverage. An interior chest pocket safely stows small items, and zippered front pockets offer hands refuge from the elements.
>Why apply Greenland Wax?
G-1000 is a tough material with a tight weave that provides natural wind-resistance, but by adding Greenland Wax, which is mad for a mixture of beeswax and paraffin, you can greatly increase the wind- and water-resistance as well as durability. Waxing is actually surprisingly easy. Simply use the block of Greenland Wax (sold separately) and apply in long, smooth strokes which leave behind a thin, even layer. Using an iron (or a hairdryer) on low to moderate heat, melt the wax into the fabric again using long, even strokes. The wax melts at between 131-140 degrees Fahrenheit (55-60 degrees Celsius) and anything beyond those temperatures will cause the wax to get too runny. Repeat if and as you feel necessary for greater protection.
How does it fit?
