The latest evolution in Gregory carrying comfort, the Katmai 55 backpack and its FreeFloat 360 suspension system provide load-hauling capability while minimizing weight and offering the fit and flexibility to ensure that movement is unhindered as you log big trail miles!

Consisting of a lightweight steel alloy perimeter frame, a fiberglass anti-barreling stay, and super-ventilated trampoline-style mesh backpanel, the pack's FreeFloat 360 suspension system enables the pack to comfortable carry up to 45 pounds, shed excess heat to keep you cool, and mirror your every movement. The auto-fitting shoulder harness rotates in tandem with your motion and Gregory's Comfort Cradle lower back system further enhances maneuverability. Strategic foam placement provides cushioning where you need it most and otherwise allows full ventilation. An odor-control treatment of the backpanel fabric helps to keep the pack fresh even after long days and repeated use.

The pack comes in two torso length-adjustable sizes to make certain that backpackers get an appropriate, customizable fit. The Small/Medium size best fits torso sizes ranging from 15"-19" and the Medium/Large best fits 18"-22" torsos. Load-lifter straps, shoulder strip and hipbelt adjustability, and an adjustable sternum strap with a built-in safety whistle enable you to fine tune overall fit.

The 3000+ cubic inch pack has traditional top-loading access but can also be reached through a convenient side zipper. A lower zippered compartment is ideal for stashing your sleeping bag. A divider between the two compartments can be removed to convert to a single large packbag. A large stretch pocket is great for stashing discarded layers or keeping items accessible without having to dig into the body of the pack. A large, zippered pocket beneath it has integrated organizational features.

Other features include a floating lid with dual storage pockets, zippered hipbelt pockets, side stretch mesh pockets, side compression straps, tuckaway canted side bottle pockets, a front harness sunglasses quick-stow attachment, and trekking pole loops. An internal sleeve and built-in hose pass-through make the pack hydration compatible (hydration system sold separately).
