Add more shade and weather protection to your car camping and motorized adventures with the Kelty Backroads Shelter. This large, structured tarp easily attaches to most vehicles, is easy to set up and break down, and has adjustable sidewalls and a zippered door.
The awning measures 138" x 72.05" x 96.1", though its coverage will vary based on your vehicle and placement. The 68D polyester tarp has a 1200mm coating to ensure waterproof protection. Sturdy fiberglass poles pitch the tarp almost like a tent that can then be positioned according to your preference or camp setup. Placed either on the side or rear of your vehicle, you can use the short webbing loops and buckles to connect the shelter to your roof rack or you can use the extended length straps to secure the tarp to your wheels or other convenient lash points. The awning corners on the ground can then be staked for security, along with the included guy lines.
Sidewalls with adjustable stake out points let you control how open and airy the shelter is. For privacy or to keep out the weather, the sidewalls can be staked close to the vehicle, creating a more closed-in space. A large d-shaped door permits easy access and can be rolled open, and it also has a zippered window for ventilation.
The Kelty Backroads Shelter has a packed weight of 11 pounds, 9 ounces. The included Shark Mouth duffel enables it to pack down to 23.6" x 9.8" x 7.1" and has a full-length strap for cross-body transport.
