Description

Designed with a generous fit for high-mileage treks the Salomon Men's Odyssey Mid GTX hiking boot has a highly cushioned midsole space for your toes to spread out comfortably and waterproof protection for extended backpacking and hiking.

The boot's welded upper is abrasion-resistant and provides a comfortable out-of-the-box fit. A fully gusseted and padded tongue helps to keep rocks dust and grit out of the shoe and a protective mudguard sheds muck and maintains breathability. Inside a generous fit provides relief for toes on long treks without sacrificing a stable fit.

The PU foam midsole delivers fatigue-diminishing underfoot cushioning and energy return. A rockered design encourages forward-rolling motion and a natural stride while also providing lateral stability. A molded EVA sockliner enhances comfort and fit.

Built on a long-distance last the Contagrip MA outsole delivers excellent traction and durability for high mileage. The rubber compound offers confidence-inspiring grip on wet and dry surfaces.

The Salomon Men's Odyssey Mid GTX is available in men's full and half sizes.

Montana and Nevada hiker

I wore these for the first time yesterday on a 10-mile, relatively smooth hiking trail. They performed very well with good support, adequate traction, and above-average comfort. I was a bit skeptical of the lugs on the sole because I am used to the more aggressive lugs on the Salomon X Ultra 3 boots, but these got the job done.

Dislikes

Although they aren't deal breakers, I'm not super crazy about the colored, plastic lace hooks. I'm not sure what advantage they provide, if any, over the more traditional metal lace hooks on the X Ultra models (which work great, by the way), but I'm sure I'll get used to them. I just hope they don't crack or break with heavy use.

Overall really nice boot, glad Solomon finally made a model with a wide forefoot.

Wide forefoot, great insoles and mid sole cushioning. The boots have a nice look and overall great fit. Solomons are nicely made and look like they will hold up overall well based on the seams and joints.
